Don't think of it that we're leaving
Think of it as a new start
A race we all begun
One of which we all play a partAlthough some don't make it to the end
Their bruises cause them pain
Their tired, broken body's
Give up before the endDon't you see they tried their hardest
They pushed along half way
But once they reached that marker
They saw how much further it will takeEveryone cheered for those who were doing better
They ignored the ones not quite there
Their stares silently told them they were a failure
They didn't want to continue, yet they thought it was only fairThey kept on pushing on, soon they seemed to be catching up
But they were still slightly behind, so no one cheered them on
They turned their head from side to side
Saw the others pass them byThey begun to slow down again
Soon enough they stopped
They others trampled over them
So they never made it to the topBut don't think of them giving up
Think of how far they gotThey tried their hardest to make it to the end
But don't you see, how could they make it without a friendOne that could see their struggle
And help them to that finish lineSomeone who could see the pain they were hiding
While pushing on to win that raceIf only we all had one
That could see the pain we hideThen maybe some wouldn't leave
That spot you save, by your side
