Descriptions are vital to any fiction story. It allows the reader to visualize themselves into the scene, able to have as close to a crystal clear image as they can. Most of the time, descriptions on 抖阴社区 are clearly lacking, and if I actually find one, sometimes it's a narrative lump (yes that's what it's called.) Try to use these guides when it comes descriptions, if you feel you're really lacking something.

[1] Avoid the Narrative Lumps
In the past, authors could get away with this but that's because the readers from that time period were used to those types of descriptions. Today's readers are not. The readers need to be able to keep flowing with the plot, they need to be able to want to read the book so fast, they don't even look at the 'Remaining Pages' 抖阴社区 provides for them.

[2] Make it Active
To make your story interesting you need to make sure that you blend descriptions perfectly into your story, that way your readers constantly know what's going on. Sometimes you have to use the character's actions to describe the setting. For example, "Terrance's thoughts overwhelmed him, making him take a large gulp out of his mug, flinching when the cold drops hit his skin."

[3] Describe what Your Characters would Notice
What's surrounding them? What are they hearing? Is there something that they're surprised to see? Allow your setting to influence your character, if a warrior is in a new kingdom he won't look at the Warriors there and remember the history of the kingdom, he'll size them up, thinking of the ways to avoid or win if a conflict arose. Keep it with the characters and the way they think.

[4] Use the Right Words
Use strong words to describe what your character is doing, making sure that the word perfectly fits what's going on. Although, sometimes the "weak words" such as "walked" is better than a word such as "skipped."

[5] Use All the Senses
Sometimes us writers get hung up on just writing the sights and sounds of the setting. What happened to the things our character can touch and smell, maybe even taste? If the air smells putrid, allow your character to maybe taste it on their tongue. It shows you can incorporate description into your story the easiest way, even thought it might seem hard.

[6] First Draft? Don't Worry
If you have a difficult time writing descriptions don't worry about it! If you're the type of writer to wait until you post a new chapter on 抖阴社区 then you can wait a while until you add the description because it can always be added later!
