JACK'S P.O.V
"Thank God you're here. I don't think Flyzik can make it much longer, the dude is about to explode!" Alex just laughed as he walked up with his arm around Connie's waist. He was too blissfully happy to care about Flyzik's mood. I still couldn't help the pang of jealousy in the pit of my stomach, seeing them happy together again was going to take some getting used to. But the jealousy didn't seem as strong anymore, I didn't feel like I wanted to punch Alex and scream at him now. It was getting better, and I think I knew why...
"Jack! How the hell have you been?!" Connie slapped me on the back with a huge grin on her face. If I didn't know her better, I'd think she was, at the very least, extremely hammered. I just looked at her blankly, I couldn't find the will to attempt to keep up with her mood. My sheer emotional contrast washed away the glee radiating from her, leaving behind worry lines on her forehead.
"What's going on?" She stared at me, waiting for an answer. I guess Alex hadn't told her, not that I blame him, it was hardly vital to their relationship.
She read my reluctance, "tell me now Jack." Real concern emanated from her. I had to tell her, I owed her that much.
"Sian's in hospital. James hit her, it was an accident, but she's okay." All my words came out in a rush, and I was surprised she understood any of it; especially since my voice broke in several places. I was so sick with worry, I didn't really know if she was okay, she wasn't awake when Flyzik dragged me away. I just had to tell Connie she was fine, to stop her worrying, plus I didn't want to spoil her newly revived happiness.
I hadn't even realised Connie's arms around me, I'd been so focused on trying to hold back my tears, that I hadn't felt her pull me into an embrace. Feeling numb to everything surrounding me, wasn't a new sensation; and it usually happened when Connie was around.
"I'm going to see her." I took my chin off her head and looked down into her eyes. Putting my hands on either side of her face, I lightly pressed my lips to hers. Not strong enough so she knew the real feelings behind it, I couldn't risk that.
Being adorable was something she achieved regularly, and this time was no different. The confused look on her face just made me want to kiss her again, except this time with more feeling.
"You're amazing, you know that? I really hope Alex treats you well this time, because if he doesn't, I swear..." I trailed off at the thought of all the possibilities of injuring Alex. Still in an embrace, she pulled me closer and squeezed my ribs.
"Thank you Jack. It's good to know I have you as a friend." She took her arms from around me and looked solemnly into my eyes. I stared back with the most serious face I could manage.
"Just friends? More like soul mates! C'mon we're like family!" She laughed, but it was short-lived.
"I'll go tell Alex I'm leaving, see you later Jack." She squeezed my hand that she'd been holding and walked towards the tour bus. I caught her arm.
"Wait, I'm coming too. I really have to see if she's okay."
She turned around to face me with a stern look. "You know you can't, Flyzik will kill someone today if you do that."
"Why do I have to go to jail? it's not fair! I wanna be freeeeeeeeee!" Flyzik came up behind her with Alex and Zack, laughing. Had someone given him alcohol? I saw Alex wink at me, there's a shock, it was him. Well I guess I had to take opportunity of the new relaxed Flyzik.
"Dude, I'm going to the hospital, we'll set off tomorrow morning, we'll still make it in plenty of time." I waited patiently for a reaction, but I didn't need to wait long.
No amount of alcohol could prevent Flyzik from freaking out over this.
"What the hell?! We've already organised everything for the time we were going to arrive! We had signings and all-sorts tomorrow! You can't do this, you just can't."
"Flyzik, listen to me. We'll be fine, now we're just wasting time here arguing. I'm going, come on Connie." She nodded and started walking towards me, pulling Alex in tow.
"Oh you're going too then? Great. Tomorrow's show is gonna be great isn't it? No vocals or guitar. I'm sure the fans won't mind just hearing the drums and bass of every goddamn song." He turned around and stumbled off back to the bus. Flyzik was also pretty dramatic and emotional when he was as drunk as he was.
When we arrived at the hospital I was a nervous wreck. What if she didn't want me there? What if she didn't actually like me, and she was just too polite to turn me down?
I sighed, catching Connie's attention, only causing her to flash me a stern look.
"Behave. You know you'll both be fine."
As directed by the nurse, we walked into her room. And what I saw I did not expect. Me being the worrier I am, thought she'd be in a coma, with tubes and needles everywhere. But she was sat up, reading a book. She looked absolutely fine, except for the dark purple that covered her left eye.
"Sian, I'm so sorry, I should have been there." Connie rushed over to sit on Sian's bed and hold her hand.
"Don't be silly! I'm so happy to see you! Don't you ever disappear on me again, you had me so worried." She gave her such a warning look that Connie just let out a light giggle.
"It's not funny! I was really frightened."
"I'm sorry. I just needed-
"Space. I know I understand," she smiled at Connie, with no trace of resentment or unhappiness. Then her eyes fell on Alex. "So you two?"
Connie laughed at her. "Yes. That's all you're getting before you demand details missus! You're getting better first." Sian frowned jokingly at her, she knew she'd find out soon. Then an awkward silence fell over the room, interrupted by the occasional cough from Sian, in between her regular glances at me.
"Right. There's no point you guys being here. I'm being let out tomorrow, so I'm okay. Aren't you supposed to be moving on tonight anyway? That's what Jack told me." The way my name sounded when she said it, it sounded like the most intricately weaved name, as if it was crafted by angels. It sounded beautiful.
"Do you not need a lift home in the morning though? And we can make our own way there, Connie and Jack already explained this to Flyzik. We honestly don't mind staying." That earned him an adoring look from his new-again girlfriend. He was so lucky.
"Thanks Alex, but it's okay. Honestly, Polly can pick me up. Now off you go, before Flyzik pops a vein or something. I've seen the way you treat him in your videos, you're all mean!" She laughed, wow. Now that was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard, like tinkling bells. I could get used to hearing that every day. In fact, I felt like I had to hear it every day, like I couldn't function without it.
"Come on tour with us. I mean, Connie could do with another female and there's room for you, it'd be so much fun." The shocked expression that followed my outburst caused everyone to look at me strangely, before Alex spoke.
"Do we have room? Or are you counting the couch, because we certainly don't have enough bunks! Cheeky boy." He assumed I meant Sian could sleep in my bunk, when in fact I was actually counting the couch. I glared at him.
"It doesn't matter, we have room. Shut it Alex." He laughed.
"Yes! Please come? You can't leave me to be the only girl, especially on a bus with this lot, that's just torture!" Sian laughed at Connie's attempt at persuasion.
"Well, I guess I could get time off work..." That was enough confirmation to make Connie squeal in delight. She hugged Sian as gently as possible and got up to weave her fingers through Alex's. She smiled at me and gestured to the door. I shook my head, I needed a minute alone with Sian before we went. They both gave me a knowing look and said goodbye to Sian before walking out.
Leaving just us two.
