"Olivia." Tyler says, staring at me from his seat on the couch beside me.
"Yes?" I ask, rolling my head to face him with my eyes shut. He stares at me through my eyelids, the silence stretching farther and farther on. He doesn't answer, making me open my eyes to meet his lovely eyes.
Our eyes lock and suddenly everything around him seemed blurry and unfocused. I feel lost in his sight, like I just wanted to wrap my hands around his cheeks.
That couldn't happen though, now could it? Josh, my best friend, Tyler's best friend. That'd be a wreck, I'd be a tourbus wrecker.
"Stop!" I demand, breaking the gaze that held us captive.
"W-What?" He asks, stuttering and slightly embarrassed by our intensely subtle moment.
"This!" I complain, standing up from the couch. "We keep doing such dumb things! Why don't you admit, Tyler?"
He looks so confused, like he doesn't understand anything I'm saying.
"I kissed you on the cheek this morning, Tyler, can we please address that?"
"You kissed me on the cheek. There, you happy now?" He questions, raising a bushy eyebrow.
"Why did I?" I ask him like a teacher would a student.
"Because I'm adorable." He answers, smirking.
"Tyler!" I complain, throwing my head back. "I'm serious and I hate being the person who has to do this but..." I trail off, wondering if escaping the room is an exception. Josh wasn't here, maybe I could find him and use him as protection to avoid this conversation.
"Who likes who?" I ask. I lift my eyes slowly, once again meeting his chocolate brown eyes. "You know what? Forget it, this is childish. We're acting like middle schoolers passing notes with check boxes." I say, shaking my head.
Tyler jumps up, taking one step before wrapping his hands around my cheeks. I stare him in the eyes, even more seriously now.
In a second, he closes his eyes and presses his rosy lips on mine. Our lips move together, in sync. Everything feels right, like this was where I was meant to be.
He suddenly breaks away, taking a wide step back. We stare at each other in shock, like a revelation just occurred. He backs even farther away, his hands migrating to his hair.
"I've made a huge mistake..." He says quietly, scratching his head. "Josh is going to be so mad."
"No, no. Don't tell Josh." I tell him, grabbing his wrist. "Please, Tyler, he already has enough on his plate and this would make me feel even worse."
"Worse? What does that mean?" He asks, looking me in the eye once again. God, I should start a tally of how many times we gaze at each other!
"I'm facing personal battles and he takes any pain of mine as his own."
He quickly wraps his arms around me, pressing my head into his shoulder. He rests his chin on my head, rubbing my back slowly.
I push away, wrapping my arms around his neck.I stand on my toes and smile at him, keeping my gaze on his chapped lips.
I push towards them, kissing him better than before.
