(Meg's POV)
It's been only three days since Dad has last seen mom, and something isn't right. He always seems to have a negative attitude, and he's always muttering something under his breath. Just a bit earlier, I heard him say something about how he should've never done something, not knowing if he completely waisted the gift of life... Whatever that means.
It was about 7:00PM, and the FMB was orbiting the planet that the Airbase we are going to attack was on, and I needed to hurry over to the Crow Ship Dock, as we were leaving in ten minutes.
I made a lightning fast trip to the Weaponry Room, and switched out my LMG for a Smart Pistol MK5.
When I had finally entered the Crow Ship Dock, it was 7:06. I made impressive time. I then walked over to where Dad, Bish, and Miss Sarah were standing. MacAllan was staying back, working in the Titan area, as Sarah usually works on Titanfalls, and since she will be out in the field, along with me, MacAllan decided to take over her duties.
Miss Sarah looked at me. "You all ready to go Meg? This is a very dangerous mission, especially since you don't have your Respawn Pack."
I nodded. "Yeah. I'm sure I'm rrady." The reason I didn't have my respawn pack on me was quite simple. The armor that has the Respawn Pack is too bulky for what we were doing. Instead of my normal armor, I had on a lighter set, on that could easily resist RE-45 bullets.
She nodded. "Alright," she said, before raising her voice. "Alright Pilots and Grunts! We are heading out! Please report to your respective Crow Ships so we can head out!"
Once she was done speaking, the Grunts didn't talk, rather they went to their Crow Ships, and Miss Sarah turned to me. "Let's get going, shall we?"
I nodded, and we got into the Crow Ship.
===
About 15 minutes later, we were hovering over a building, and the unloading door opened. I then hugged dad and got up and went over to Miss Sarah. "Alright. Let's go."
She nodded, and we both jumped out, onto the roof, doing a roll. When I looked back up, the Crow Ship was already gone. I then turned back to Miss Sarah. "Let's go. If we linger too long, the IMC get us."
She nodded. "Of course."
We then made our way to the hatch on the roof, and dropped down.
Once we were in, we ran into a small hallway. "Hey. So up above, they are merely a distraction, correct?" I asked Miss Sarah as we continued running.
She nodded. "Yeah. That's right. Now... We're almost at the control panel for the first tower. Get the Icepick ready."
I nodded and pulled the Icepick out of my pocket, and we emerged into a room that was maybe two meters tall, half a meter taller than the hall. In the middle of the room was a console. I looked at Miss Sarah. "Is this where I use it?"
She nodded. "Yes. And you open it just how you'd open any other Heavy Turret, and I know you've hacked quite a few before."
I nodded, and hacked into it, and then pulled out the Icepick. "Now what?" I asked.
"Now we wait for Bish to confirm-"
"Sarah, Meg. Come in. The Tower is down! I repeat, the Tower is down!" it was Bish, and his voice went away as quickly as it came.
"Come on Meg. We don't have a minute to spare."
I nodded, and we went to the next Tower.
===
The next one went down with ease, but Bish quickly spoke. "That tower is down, but we are getting indications that IMC forces are attempting to surround you! There is a hatch in the tunnel ahead, but you need to book it if you plan to escape that way!"
We nodded, and quickly ran out.
Just as Bish had said, there was a hatch, and I could see open sky at the top.
Miss Sarah was already climbing, and I was about to go up, but I felt a searing pain go through my upper left arm.
I was shot.
I ignored the pain and I climbed up the hatch, and Miss Sarah helped me out.
"Are you alright? I heard a gun shot," she said as she kicked the hatch closed.
I shook my head, falling to a knee, clutching my shoulder. "N-no..."
"Why? What's-" she cut herself off, and pressed the earpiece she had in. "Bish? Y-you need to make sure there's medical personnel on the Crow you're sending in."
I was able to hear him, as I also had in an earpiece. "Yeah. There's one on it already. Why? What happened down there?"
"Meg. She got shot in the shoulder, and the bleeding is really bad."
Bish sighed. "Alright. Just keep her safe. The Crow Ship should be arriving soon."
As soon as he was done speaking, the Crow Ship landed, and Miss Sarah picked me up, and carried me on.
Three people surrounded me, and one injected me with something, and everything faded out, including the pain.
A/N: I have decided to do a Christmas Special Chapter-Thing!
I won't tell you what it's about, but I will tell you this much: It's going to be an awesome chapter, told from Damian's POV. Also, it is the next to last chapter. There will be a sequel! It's going to be called Defending the Frontier, and I personally hand-drew the cover! The first chapter of that will come out on January 1st, and the entire book is told from Michael's POV.)
