THREE WEEKS LATER.
The alarm woke them both from what has been a restless night, she knew she hadn't slept more than a few hours and Adam even less.
"We need to get up" Adam muttered in her ear, kissing her lightly.
Kim wiped at her eyes, "I don't want to do this, I don't know if I can" she told him, she pressed her body into his, needing the warmth that radiated off of him.
"I know, but we have to" he kissed her forehead as he pushed a few strands of her hair behind her ear, "we will do it together"
The next few hours were spent in silence as they dressed, Adam watched Kim as she reapplied her makeup for the third time that morning, her tears seemed to be never ending.
Her hand trembled, Adam rushed to her "Come here" he wrapped her in his arms.
"This isn't the way it's supposed to be, you aren't supposed to bury your child" she sobbed against his chest.
"Let's go Erin" Jay called up the stairs already having dropped Caleb off with the babysitter.
He was dreading this, but he knew their friends needed them.
Erin came downstairs, her eyes puffy and red, "This sucks Jay. All of it, it just really fucking sucks. I hate it"
He grabbed her hand, "I know, it does" he brought her hand to his lips and kissed it, "I didn't want to leave Caleb this morning, it's so hard to imagine. I don't know how any one can go one after something like this.
She grabbed her coat, "They still have a kid to take care of, it's the only way I would be able to carry on"
They arrived at the church, surprised to see the amount of cars in the small parking lot, resulting in an overflow and cars lining the street.
Erin grabbed Jay's hand and led them inside the church, stopping in her tracks, gasping.
A few feet before her rested the smallest white coffin she had ever seen, her knees went weak.
Eternally grateful for Jay's strong arms catching her before she fell.
--Note--
I hate that it's so short, but it's something.
Hoping to update sometime over the weekend. Going back to work has kicked my ass and left me exhausted and uncomfortable.
Unedited.
