"Well, I don't remember lending you my power."
Power? What did he mean? What is he talking about?
"Um...I don't really know what you mean. But, where is this place?"
He gives me a confused look.
"Seriously? You opened me without knowing anything?"
"No. Well, you see, I got this strange journal as a random gift from a girl, and, well, I tried to open it and---"
"Shut up! Shut up! At least try to be patient."
"Eh? What do you mean?"
"Are you this dense? I am the journal."
"Eh?..."
I stare at him, failing to understand. This boy is the journal?
"I can see you don't know. This place is my world."
"Your world?"
"Yes. My world.
"Are you God?"
"Of course not! This is simply my world. I'm not a God. Just think of it as my home."
"I-I See..."
"Ah. You really don't know anything do you?"
I don't respond.
"Wait. Who gave me to you?"
"Eh? Oh. A girl in the mental hospital. I couldn't tell if she was a doctor or a patient though."
"Girl, you say..."
"Yes. Is something wrong?"
His eyes widen for a moment.
"It can't be...Are you....Yes, you must be..."
"Eh?.."
His expression quickly turns back to a smile.
"Alright. I understand now. Just write your name anywhere."
"抖阴社区 my name?"
I search my mental ward rags. I find the same pen inside. How did this get inside?
"Where do I write my name?"
"Anywhere."
I look around confused. Where was I supposed to sign in this empty place?
"You can sign in the air too."
Was he serious? I hesitate. I lift my pen to the air, and begin moving my pen. The pen began to glow an intense red. My name suddenly appeared, a strong blue color shrouding my name. I didn't really have to sign after all. The pen disappears.
He looks at me, as if he was surprised.
"I didn't think you would...be able to actually sign....so easily...Okay. That settles the deal."
He walks towards me. As he stood in front of me, he held out his hand.
"I am Ren. Nice to meet you."
I glance at his hand. My hand grabs his.
"Nice to meet you."
I stare at the endless white surroundings, wondering what I was supposed to do.
"Um...Is there anything I am supposed to do?"
"What do you mean? I lent you my power."
"Power?"
"Yes."
Ren floats in the air. Suddenly, white wings form from his back.
"I am...an angel."
"Angel..."
"Right."
"What exactly is your power?"
"Hm..."
He hesitates for a moment. Then he quickly gives me a reply.
"I can give you better clothes, for starters."
He's right. Any clothes would be much better than these rags at the moment...
"But, where would you keep clothes in such an empty place?"
He places a hand behind his head.
"Well, theoretically..."
"Theoretically?"
"I can control anything in this world. So I can give you nearly anything here. But, that's only in here. Think of it like this, we're inside the journal. So your clothes in the real world wouldn't actually change."
"Th-That's...pointless."
Inside the journal..?
"But, then, what about my body in the real world?"
"Eh? Well, you're in it right now."
"So I'm not dreaming or hallucinating?"
"No. This is as real as it gets. You're literally inside the journal, but you're no longer present in the room you were in."
Hm..
"Well, in all seriousness, my power is anything."
"Anything? You mean, anything?"
He nods.
"Yes. But.."
He looks into my eyes, suddenly serious.
"My power will always be as much as you willfully desire it to be. Don't forget that."
But, what powers is he talking about.
I look around the empty space around me. Well, maybe he does have some kind of power. I'm in here, after all. It's not out of possibility..."Then, can you get me out of that place?"
"Eh? Well, I suppose I could...But.."
"But?"
"Hm...Something about you is off..."
Silence echoes throughout the white world. Ren stared at me, without saying a word. Did I say something I shouldn't have...? He smiles, and floats back down to the ground.
"I see. This is Misaki's request...."
"Eh?..."
"No."
He walks towards me, his smile showing sincerity. He pats my shoulder.
"Its a deal then"
His angel wings fade away.
"I will help you, with anything, Susumu."
I stare into his eyes. I wasn't sure what he meant by that. But, considering everything that has happened...Maybe I'll put my trust in him. I smile at him.
"Thank you..."
I stare off into the white surroundings once more.
He smiles back at me."Then, it's a deal."
