There was a short silence, but not an awkward one. You took one more spoon to your mouth and Sans thought about how to put his words right. When he was ready he spoke and broke the silence.

"You know that before Alphys there was another scientist, right?"

You nodded your head yes. Gaster, as you remember the name. It was a faded memory and the only thing you really could remember was and Entry: Entry 17 in windings.

"Papyrus and I were young as we came to Snowdin. Paps was barely a baby then. We had neither money nor a place to stay. Gaster was the one who took us in he was like a father for me. He thought me many things." By the expression on Sans' face you could tell he never talked about it this way. Also you've never heard this story before. You gave Sans a patient smile to your skele-friend, so he knew you are by his side. "Paps don't remember him at all. To be true I don't remember him well myself. One of his experiments went terribly wrong and... he just vanished. I was only able to restore some memories of him. Examination of the CODE showed me his DATA was corrupted and party erased. That's why no one really remembers him. There is no way I can tell this to Paps... He'll break down."

As you gazed at him, there were small tears in his eye-sockets, which you kissed away, making Sans blush with light blue dust. "I'm glad you told me Sans. You know, you're not alone anymore. Like I promised, somehow I'll end this never-ending cycle and then we can look up to repair the CODE. If anyone can do it, it's you – if you wouldn't be this lazy."

Setting the noodles beside you, you took his skull between your hands forcing him to look at you. One of his lights has gone off, showing how bad he was feeling about this whole nightmare. His voice was nearly a whisper as he talked to you while looking away.

"You can't understand how this feels. Knowing that one day, without any warning... it's all going to be reset." You knew what he was going to say. You've heard it so often in the genocide runs. To your surprise it felt different this time. With your thumbs you creased his cheekbones.

" Look. I gave up trying to go back a long time ago. And getting to the surface doesn't really appeal anymore, either. 'cause even if we do... we'll just end up right back here, without any memory of it, right? To be blunt... It makes it kind of hard to give it my all. ... or is that just a poor excuse for being lazy...? Hell if I know."

The room was dim, since the only light that lit it came from the screen in front of you. Somehow you were glad it was this way, because you blushed, knowing what you had to do right now. Sans was still avoiding your gaze. "We haven't been to the surface yet, so no need to be afraid. This time we'll see the stars together. I promised it, didn't I?" And with this words said, you did something you never did before. Your lips were pressed against his teeth for a short moment. A kiss. A human-skeleton-kiss, since Sans didn't have any lips. But it was fine. You loved him anyway.

His eyes widened as you pulled back and a deep blue blush was now on his pale bones. "Did ya just... kiss me?"

"I guess so." Not only was he blushing madly. By now your face was equal to a tomato.

"..."

Now, this silence was awkward. Your hands still rested on his skull and as you wanted to pull away, Sans pressed his teeth softly against your lips. And as he pulled away and grinned at you, you knew automatically what he is going to say. "It looks like you love me to the bone."

You both laughed silently not wanting to wake Alphys.

"You're my butter half." You tried a pun yourself and he giggled at it.

"I-I d-don't want to... disrupt you b-but I-I thing I have an idea." came a stutter from behind you, making you jump up, nearly tossing the bowl over. Sans, too, was shocked to see Alphys standing there in her nightgown.

"And this idea is...?" Sans tried to make the shy monster talk.

"Ah, yes... You s-see... (y/n), you have great DETERMINATION. You should... b-be able to erase Chara..."

"That would be great!" Joy filled you. Hope was flaming up in your eyes.

"B-But..."

Suddenly your word fall apart. A "but" was never good. Holding onto Sans for support you breathed in, awaiting the bad part of the news. The skeleton himself was really tense.

"I-If it's h-how you told then Frisk and Chara are now... one person. They would be b-both.." You didn't listened to Alphys anymore. Getting rid of Chara was your goal but at this cost? There have to be another way... Somehow... somewhere...

Why is the world always against you?

You could feel how Sans pulled you into an embrace and pet your head to comfort you, but on the other hand you didn't felt it at all. Is there really no way? If your sister just never fell down here... If you could just turn the time behind the SAVE. This wasn't able, was it?

"Y-You still c-can try to pry Chara a-apart of your sisters SOUL, but there is n-no sureness you'll be able to do it..., ...., I...., I'll still search for a way and... you know."
