The Talk
The way to Alphys was short due to taking the boat by all of you. Since the boat of the riverman – or riverwoman, you never knew... - was pretty small all of you have to sit tightly together so no one would fall into water. Sans made some puns about Undyne being a fish and short after that they had a fight. You felt at peace with yourself as you sat and listened to them. They really were carefree. Not like in the "No Mercy" run...
Undyne was the one that introduced you to Alphys. Like usually Mettaton broke into the lab and a small quiz round started. You let Alphys help you gladly even though you knew all the questions. It was kinda funny this time, since everyone was standing around the robot and you. Sans, Paps and even Undyne who blushed at the last question but waved it off.
Alphys made Ramen for all of you, so you could talk in peace. All subjects came up: who you were, why you fell down and how you came this far. Also Alphys talked about Mettaton and how evil he was – you of course knew it wasn't true. Well... Particularly at least. At many timelines you and Meta used to be good friends. On the other... You were fighting each other to the death.
"H-How is the s-surface l-like?" asked Alphys which made you look at her with a warm smile.
"Well... It's not that different from the underground to tell the truth. We have seasons instead of permanent climate. On winter it's snowing like in Snowdin, on summer it's as hot as in the Hotlands. Also there is autumn where the leaves changes colors to gold and brown and in the spring bird are singing, flowers are blooming..." you face fall as you noticed what you just said. It wasn't like you did this because you wanted to. No. It just happened. If you wanted or not, this is a way to describe the spring...
"Everything okay, punk?" asked Undyne. She was the first to notice your mood change. Or at least the only one with enough courage to bring it up.
"Yeah... I'm fine." you faked a smile. "I just miss my sister, that's all."
"Well you have to get used to it since you're not leaving anytime soon."
You felt your eyes widen. Did she believe you were too weak to fight against Asgore? Not like you wanted to. But still.
In some way she was speaking the truth. If your plan won't succeed then you'll have to stay in the underground not abel to see Frisk again. Of course you knew this could happen before you decided to go down again.
"U-Undyne!" warned Alphys.
"No, that's fine. I have no desire to go up so badly. Sure I miss my sister but I won't risk anything or anyone to go back."
"YOU SEE UNDYNEE? I TOLD YOU HUMAN IS A GOOD PERSON!"
Suddenly I realized something. "Shouldn't you three be on duty? Or at least you and Undyne while Sans will sleep again?"
"YOU'RE RIGHT HUMAN!"
And before you knew it Paps run out pulling Sans on his hoodie who was giving you the 'Thank-you-buddy'-look. Undyne went after Papyrus yelling at him for being stupid again.
And so only you and Alphys were sitting in front of the big monitor that was showing yourself. She watched you like every time. You got used to it. Alhough since last timeline it was kind of strange seeing yourself instead of Frisk up there. The memories of Sans and yourself sitting on the ground with a blanket around your bodies made you smile a sad smile. It was obvious that you missed him.
"Hey Alphys... Can I tell you something?" you spoke softly without looking back from the screen.
"S-Sure..?" came an slight confused answer from the monster. She really had a pure soul even though she did some creepy experiments. She was the one you could trust blindly even in this timeline.
"But please... Don't tell anyone yet."
She nodded and you sighed. Here it comes. A talk you waited for so long:
"I might sound crazy but please listen to me till the end. Not only do I come from the surface, no, I've been to the underground a lot of... times. Thanks to my great determination I have the ability to reset the time. At first it was okay. I had a lot of fun with you guys, but then... the spirit of the first fallen child awoke and wished for revenge. Chara... She... was an evil being. Somehow I managed to delate her from the code that writes the world by deleting my own files. That's why it's more of a first time I fell down here. Believe me, I saw a lot of brutal things I don't even want to speak about. They... changed me. I only wish for peace. I want to bring you to the surface. And well... It's so hard that no one remembers me! Not even Sans does. He... normally he would remember me and after a few days or so you would remember me as well. But as I said, since I theoretically never fell down there is nothing to remember. But in another way it's better this way. Like I told before, there were timelines no one should remember. They still give me nightmares every night." you made a small pause to catch breath and look over to Alphys. Small tears were building in your eyes, so you blinked them away.
With a deep breath you continued. "I know about your true lab. I know about how you experimented with Determination, SOULs, fallen monsters, and Golden Flowers. I've seen the Amalgamates... And... And..." you were searching in your mind of other things to tell so Alphys would believe you. "I know about Mettatons second form. I know that the barrier can only be passed with a human and a monster soul."
At the end you were panting and Alphys was staring at you open-eyed. Then she nodded without saying a word and you felt a strange feeling building up in your tummy. Was it a dump idea to tell her everything?
"W-Why are you telling it all to m-me and not maybe Sans? From what you said it looks like you were good friends." whispered Alphys in a low tone.
"We... were more than friends and... I don't wish to force him into this all. I'm afraid that he would remember the bad timelines when he spends to much time around me..." you stated the truth. There was no need to lie on that one.
Once again she nodded. "I believe you. You know so much about me... S-so sometime we were re-ally good friend s-since I showed you e-everything..."
Now you were the one to nod and Alphys smiled at you. "I-I... I won't t-tell anyone. W-We should r-run some test on y-you. Is there a-anything you are worried about?"
Again you nodded but this time with relief written on your face. "I'm afraid that Chara will come back one day. Please. You can't tell anyone. Especiallynot Sans. He has seen hell on earth because of me. I don't want to hurt himanymore. Even if that means I have to go on distance with him."
Suddenly a chuckel escaped your lips as you remembered somethin: "Oh... Just so under us girls, Undyne likes you back. She does every time."
This statement made the short monster blush the deepest red you've ever seeen. Maybe it will be okay this time? After all Alphys would take care of you, so Chara won't come back. Maybe you will be able to fulfill your promise in the end.
