I wake up the next morning with the sun shining through my window. Effie must have come in already, while I was still half asleep. Ah well, she'll get over it.  I waltz into my bathroom, and immediately  jump in the shower to wake myself up.

I take half an hour to fully wake myself, dry myself, and get changed into my reaping clothes again. By the time I return to my room, the attendants have already made my bed, and folded my sheets up, as we're going to be arriving in the Capitol very coon, not long from now I'm sure. So wasting no time, I head to the dining room, the automatic door opens, and the first thing I see shocks me. Haymitch is already pouring some alcohol into his morning tea, and sighs, as though he gives up on whatever conversation they were having.

Peeta looks at me in a worried way, but not because he's scared, well not of me anyway, I can tell in his eyes that it's because Haymitch is drinking so early. I shake my head at him, as a signal for him not to worry, so he looks back at Haymitch, and examines him carefully. I look at the back of the train compartment, and see Effie, looking in her mirror, perfecting herself for the Capitol, as though she doesn't have a care in the world. So my eyes land on Katniss, who's glaring at Haymitch.

"Can you pass the marmalade?" Haymitch asks, but the only thing I hear is a loud bang. Immediately I look in his direction, and I see Katniss, holding a knife that has been driven into the table, barely missing Haymitch's fingers.

"THAT IS MAHOGANY!" I hear Effie gasp. I look at her in annoyance. Katniss takes her hand off the knife, leaving it indented in the table.

"Look at you!" Haymitch exclaims, taking the knife out of the table and examining it "You just killed a place mat!" he laughs, as he begins buttering his toast.

"What d'you want to know?" I ask.

"Katniss wants to know how to stay alive." Peeta answers

"Well apart from fighting I take it?" Peeta nods in reply.

"So you really want to know how to stay alive?" I say, leaning down onto the chair opposite Katniss "You have to get people to like you" She looks at me in confusion, and so does Peeta, so I take the liberty to explain.

"So I guess that's not what you were expecting? Well, when you're in the middle of the Games. And you're starving, or freezing, when I'm not hunting you that is" I add with a wink "a knife, water, or even some matches can mean the difference between life, and death, and those type of things only come from sponsors, and to get sponsors, you have to make people like you"  I explain, as Haymitch finally looks up from his toast.

"And right now sweetheart, you're not off to a real good start." Haymitch finishes with a massive bite from his toast.

"There it is!" Peeta rises from his seat, and speed walks to the window. Sure enough, we've arrived at the Capitol. It amuses me how much Peeta is amazed by the sight. Then I realize he hasn't lived here for six years. Everything goes dark, and both Katniss and Peeta are looking around in wonder. But their silent questions are soon answered when the station comes into sight; it's as shiny and clean as ever, only it's full of colorful Capitol citizens, who are way too excited to see the new Tributes. They're all waving in every window, hoping we'll be in one of them. I look at Haymitch, who is looking back at me, with the tiniest smile on his lips, and then gives me a tiny nod, signalling me to approach the window.

Rising from my seat, I approach the same window Peeta is waving out of. As soon as my face comes into view, they all cheer so loudly that some peacekeepers guarding the train have to cover their ears.

"Come on! Come on!" I hear Peeta say to Katniss, who has remained in her seat. Peeta and I continue to wave when we hear Haymitch say something to Katniss

"You better keep this knife, they know what they're doing" and he dives the knife back into the butter.
