"So you like the ship, then?" The farmiliar looking Irishman asked, looking down to where I was standing.
I nodded, not really knowing what to say. I was slighly embarrassed that he had watched me practically drooling over his beautiful boat.
"I'd let you come and look around if you had someone with you. I don't want to look like a creep by giving teenage girls a tour of the Jolly Roger." The man explained.
"Isn't 'the Jolly Roger' from a book?" I asked. I once had quite a large collection of fairy stories. Over the years I lost some of my books moving from home to home, so couldn't always remember what character or object was from which story. I liked to think that all the stories linked, anyway.
"Something like that." The sailer replied to my question. "I must have named her after the boat from the book." He smirked and sounded unsure. It seemed like he either had memory loss or was very, very drunk.
"Okay, well I'm going to go. Thanks for letting me gawp at your boat." I said. I waved before turning and walking back towards the town. I wasn't planning on going to the sand again, so there was no need for me to be so close to the coastline.
It wasn't long before I was back in the little town I was beginning to grow fond of. As I said before, Storybrooke seemed to be quite small, so it didn't take me long to memorize the directions to a handful of places.
I was about to sit on a bench and make use of my time by thinking the day away when I saw a sign saying 'library'. It was directly beneath the clock tower and I was surprised I hadn't seen it earlier. I wasn't a compete book worm. I would say I liked books the considerable amount, but I was in the mood to sit on a comfy chair and read. It seemed like the perfect way to get my mind off this Emma dilemma that had been driving me crazy since the night before.
The heavy doors of the library made a slight squeak as they opened. A pretty woman wearing a dark green skirt and a very pale blue button-UO shirt turned to me as I entered. She was carrying a small stack of books and it looked like she had been replacing them on the bookshelves before I entered.
"Hello, can I help you?" she asked. She had a sweet, caring voice, and I noticed she also had an Austrailian accent.
"Is it okay if I just sit and read?" I asked.
"Of course," the lady who I assumed was the librarian replied. There are some armchairs over there, and of course there are a tonne of books everywhere."
"Thank you." I smiled.
"You're welcome. My name is Belle, and if you need any help I'll be around here somewhere." Belle returned the smile before scurrying around the room to put the books in their correct places. She didn't even need to check the labels in the shells, she just knew where each book went instantly.
I walked around the high shelves in search of something to read. Of course, there were hundreds of different books I could choose, but I wanted to find something I would enjoy enough to take my mind off everything. Belle must have noticed me struggling and came over to help.
"Over there there's classics," She pointed to the far left. "All of this section is just full of your average books from A-Z," she moved her hand around to cover most of the middle section of the library. "And this is the teenage and kids section." She pointed to the left.
"Do you have anything you reccomend? Anything that is easy to get into?" I asked. I could tell that she definitely knew a lot about books.
"Actually, I do. I may sound like a typical teenage girl, but have you read the Pretty Little Liars books? I read them recently, and they're actually very good." Belle advised.
"I haven't, and thank you." I said, picking up the first book of the series.
I was an hour and a half into the book before I stopped reading to check my phone. I thought it might be something semi-important, but it was just a notification telling me that someone had liked my Instagram photo. I had recently changed my theme and it was gorgeous, so I was clueless to why I wasn't getting as many likes as Beyoncé.
I sat in the comfy chair for another two hours before finishing the book. About ten minutes in, I started focusing on the characters' problems instead of my own.
I got up from the chair and stretched. My body was aching a little from sitting in the same position for more than three hours. I put the book back where it came from and grabbed my bag.
"Thank you." I smiled and waved at Belle before heading outside. It was passed lunchtime and my stomach was starting to make some quiet rumbling sounds, so I walked I walked towards Granny's Diner. I was too lazy to try and look for an alternative place to eat, and I didn't need to anyway. The cosy little diner served tasty food and had really low prices, so I had no reason to want to find another place to eat.
I slowly opened the front door. I knew the bell would ring, but for some reason I thought it I opened the door slower it might not. I was wrong, and everyone looked over at me, like I expected. I took a seat at the bar. It just happened to be the exact same seat I sat in yesterday. I had just opened my mouth to order when I was interrupted.
"Zoe?" Ruby explained. She sounded partly worried, partly relieved. "Emma has been trying to contact you all day."
"I was just at the library. I left her a note. Am I in trouble for something?" I was slighly paranoid, which happened a lot to me. I was a worrier.
"All she really said was she urgently needed to talk to you." Ruby told me. She then handed me a piece of napkin with Emma's phone number written on it.
