Chapter16

"You are Gaster, am I right?" you asked, no fear in your voice. It was all gone with the kindness he showed you.

A nod from him served you as an answer. This was the very first time you ended up in the void. Never before have you seen or heard Gaster. So this is 'the man who speaks in hands'. This is the father-figure for Sans and Papyrus.

"My name is (y/n)." you introduced yourself.

Once again Gaster nodded his head. "I KnOw wHo YoU aRe. I sAw eVerY TimeLinE you CaUSed."

With his voice your expression changed. Your eyes widened slowly. So you weren't the only one who still remembers what happened while Chara was still existing... "I...I-I..." you stuttered not sure what to say.

Once again Gaster laid his hand on your shoulder and tried to smile as kind as he could without looking creepy. "I d-dOn'T hold A grudge AgaiNSt yoU! AcTuaLLy I wANted TO tHaNk you FoR what YoU diD last TimE."

"B-But... all I did was another reset..."

"A REsEt tHaT could HaVE kILLed you anD mADe you sAcRiFICe yOUr OwN ha-HAppineSS."

You looked down at you shoes. Maybe it would have been better if you never returned to the underground – at least for yourself. It was hard to sit right next to Sans knowing he would never love you anymore. But that was a pain you were able to take on yourself, because you had a promise to fulfill.

"I never wished for Chara to take over my body... Erasing my own file was all I could do to make up my mistakes."

After you said those words you had enough courage to look up again. " And I'd do it again if it'd save the life of everyone."

A chuckle was heard from both you and Gaster. "My BoY hAs FOUnd a gOOd GirLFriEnD."

A blush appeared on your face making you giggle nervously. "I-I'm not Sans' girlfriend... - not anymore." The last part was more of a whisper to yourself.

"You LoVe HiM." stated Gaster in a matter-of-fact tone making you nod your head quickly. There was no need to lie, since Gaster knew very well how the truth was.

"Of course I love him. But... He despites me. It's better when we stay friends." Slowly tears arose in your eyes, which you blinked away. "I don't want him to remember any of what happened in the past. He seems... so happy right now. If you knew what I did... He'd hate me for sure."

"He MaY HaVE nO fEElingS FoR yOU RighT noW bUt wait for ThE fuTure To cOMe. HiS LoVe fOr YoU Was dEaPly."

Somehow you managed to smile weakly. "He is the best thing that happened to me. I won't force my feeling on him. Sure, I miss him like hell, but... like I said: I wish him happiness."

"YoU'Re a wOnDERful person (y-y/n). I'M glAd I cOulD meeT you. BuT weak UP noW."

"W-What? Wait!" you yelled as your vision started to darken "There are so many things I wanted to ask!"

"We'LL MeEt aNoThER tIme."

Suddenly you opened your eyes while heavy breathing. You were on the coach; the blanket that once covered your body was on thee flor. Light shone bright in your eyes making you blink a few times before you could stand up. Something in the kitchen caught your attention. Your stomach started to feel sick as you went on weak knees.

On the counter to the left laid a blue hoodie...

"No..." you whispered.

Next to the hoodie laid a kitchen knife.

"No... no!" you shock your head in disbelieve. As fast as you could you grabbed the hoodie and started running upstairs. Straight towards Sans room. Like always the door was shut. All you could do was knock many times, yelling Sans name in hope this was some sick joke of his. But as the door hasn't opened after a few minutes, you tried your luck at Papyrus' room.

Which was empty.

You felt lifeless. With the last power you had you sat down on the floor between both rooms. Not even a tear escaped your eyes. You still couldn't believe it. When did it happen?

Was it while I was in the void? Did Chara took over my body then? Was it why I was in the void in the first place? Was it why Gaster woke me up?

Questions over questions – but not a single answer...

Untill....

"HUMAN? ARE YOU AWAKE? WHERE ARE YOU?"

You could hear how someone went upstirs.

"Oh! Here you are, kiddo. Oh, and you've found my hoodie. Why are you staring like that at me? Is something on my face? Nah, we should get going. Paps and I went to Undyne since ya were sleeping pretty long and she wanted us to take you to Alphys."

At first you didn't do anything. Then you noticed what an idiot you were. Chara was erased. There is nothing that could go wrong in this timeline. All you needed to do was calm down. Genocide really left a mark on you. Have you started to go crazy..?

"R-Right... I found it in the kitchen and wanted to give it back but neither of you were at home..." was all you said as you handed the skeleton his hoodie. Of course he pulled it on right after.

"Hehe, thanks. I must have left it after the breakfast."

You lifted yourself up and smiled. "No need to thank me. Let's get going. I have a feeling this Alphys lives far away from here." Even you were smiling, you were afraid. Everything that remembered you of Chara or genocide made you feel unwell. How could you live in fear like that?

You really needed to talk to someone. And this someone has to be Alphys. She could run some test on you or something and help you feel more stable.

After all there is nothing to fear. Chara will never come back. Gaster said it himself.
