"The watchmen who go about the city found me;
I said,
"Have you seen the one I love?""Song of Solomon 3:3
Insight Editions are to show background information for an important element of the story. It takes place in the past, around the time of Neylana's breakup. I decided to do one cause of reasons stated above and this cause I have major writer's block (as usual).
It's important and usually a shorter read so happy reading! May God bless you all!
Neymar placed the shot glass in front of him, noting all its details through glossy eyes bloodshot eyes. It was his second of the day, and it was only 7 in the morning. Gil and Jo sat on his couch in the media room, bellowing out noises of anticipation as they played 2k. Not that his friends didn't try to comfort him, Neymar told them to go and to stop worrying about him. After all, it was now day 5 after the unexpected break up.
Neymar never thought he could feel so crappy...for lack of better word. It's as if all the guilt that had been harbored within him was coming out in the form of tears, or through sleeping, but it wasn't enough to get the groggy feeling of sadness out. It wasn't fulfilling in the slightest.
He reached for the bottle of tonic to refill his glass of sorrows. Just as he filled it up as much as it could go, his phone buzzed, and he jumped eagerly, grabbing it as fast as he could. What if were the love of his life, returning his several calls? He had been trying for several days after coming to his senses on the second.
No, it was just Gabriella, the reason for the demise of their relationship. His face screwed up into one of displeasure as he read the message asking to 'hang out', he then deleted the message, setting his phone out on the counter before him. Neymar downed the shot, feeling the liquid burn the back of his throat. He inhaled sharply, feeling at least a little better about himself. His phone buzzed again, and this time--he was a little less eager to see who it was.
From: Leo 🔥
"Come out to your patio, I've got McDonalds."
The last part caused Neymar to jump out of his seat. "Guys, if Tali asks for me; I'm outside." He poked his head into the media room, seeing his two best friends nod in agreement simultaneously, wrapped up in a close game. He found a shirt laying on the ground, and slipped it on, not knowing that it was backwards. Not that it was going to make that much of a difference.
On his way to his patio, Neymar stumbled across a twinkling object laying idle on the kitchen counter, where Marcela would usually be preparing food. He gave her the week off, though. Wanting to be left in his feelings.
"She forgot her compass." he shook his head, quickly debating whether or not to give it back. He decided on later, to give it back through Andrew, who was bent on beating the crap out of him.
Oh well, I'll take the beating as long as she's happy.
"Leo." He smiled, giving his teammate a bro hug.
"How are you holding up, Ney?" Leo sat down at a table which resided on Neymar's patio. "Here you are my man." Leo handed him a steaming hot bag of McDonalds, Neymar's mouth watered. He had been skipping a few meals. Not purposefully, but he constantly felt too full after drinking or sleeping.
"I'm great." Neymar stuffed a handful of fries in his mouth as the sun beat down on their area of seating. Leo shook his head sadly, knowing very well how "great" Ney was doing. His puffy eyes, fatigued expressions, and eagerness to eat grease on a bun said it all.
"You know why I'm here, right?"
"Did Alana send you to talk to me?" Ney asked, getting defensive without a reason, seeming very angry at that thought. He wasn't mad, just on edge.
