October 12th:
"So let me get this straight," said Eric slowly. "You think that Amaryliss killed Britany?"
"Yes, that's the general idea," I confirmed, pacing up and down my bedroom, which was, admittedly, pretty difficult due to the mess. All in all my room has around one metre of pacing space, which is not good if you're trying to get in to detective mode.
"Amaryliss from down the hall? Blonde, cheerleader Amaryliss?" he asked slowly.
"No Eric," said Olivia. "The other Amaryliss."
I sighed. "I'm not saying it was definately her, but you have to admit it's pretty suspicious that Britany died just after the two of them had a massive argument."
"And that Amaryliss and Joanna just happened to find the body", agreed Olivia. "Now, about this argument?"
I explained to her what Eric and I had heard in the 49p, I mean 49 cent, store.
"Woah", said Olivia when I'd finneshed. "That's heavy. I wish I'd been there to see that!"
"But that doesn't mean she did it," said Eric, then he looked at me and saw I wasn't about to drop my main lead. "But we should definately check it out."
I smiled at him. "Okay, first stop- the crime scene."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The thing with going to a crime scene, it doesn't really work unless you happen to be, you know, an actual detective with a badge and ID and stuff. Otherwise they don't let you in.
"This sucks." stated Olivia.
"I secound that emotion", I agreed. As neither of us had a badge or ID or stuff opn us we were stuck behind the black and yellow tape, trying to get a good look. Since Eric had decided to "sit this one out", I couldn't even sit on his shoulders for a better veiw. Forensics had been and gone, but there was still police gathered around, talking in hushed voices.
"What do you think they're talking about?" asked Olivia.
"Probably the bag in that guy's hand", I answered. "I want a closer look."
Olivia pulled me back before I ducked the tape. "Macy! You can't crash the crime scene!"
"Good point.... hey! how come she gets to do it?!" I pointed at a girl around my age ducking the tape and going up to the policeman, I mean cop, with the plastic bag. The girl had very light skin, ginger hair and green eyes. She was probably around 5"4 tall. Just before I copied her and ducked the tape myself, I realised one of the cops had similar features to her.
"She's his daughter," I declared.
"Who's who's daughter?" said Olivia.
"That girl, she's that cop's"- I pointed to the red-haired man next to the cop with the bag-"child. Offspring. Young."
"She's not a baby cow Macy," laughed Olivia. "How do you know she is? There's more than one wierdly pale ginger family in New Jersey you know."
She was right ofcourse, but how else could the girl just get past all the other cops?
"Elementary my dear Holmes," I said tapping my nose. Olivia rolled her eyes. "But this is good right?" I continued. "I mean, that girl looks around our age, so all we have to do is to get in to the university's files and see if she's a student. Then we can ask her some questions."
