Still the 12th of October:

I'd like to say that I was so profesional that I ran straight over to dorm 16a to find Heather Ashton, but it was a long way across campus and I hadn't had lunch so I grabbed a sandwich, still longing for a Greggs, then realised I really needed the loo. Then I looked in the bathroom mirror and realised I looked like utter crap, what with all that fake crying.

So half an hour later, when I'd made myself look presentable (well I didn't want to scare the poor girl off, did I?), I found dorm 16a and was wondering what to do. "Hey I'm Macy J Sherlock and I need you to tell me the top secret information I saw your dad with earlier. How did I find you? I hacked the campus computer." seemed like the wrong way to go.

Rumaging in my pockets I found a refresher and 10p, I mean ten cents, left over from lunch. So much for high tech equipment. However, a detective is always resourceful, and infront of the next dorm over was the most careless yet useful thing I could have found.

"Hey, this was left outside my dorm and it's not for any of us", I said when she answered the door. I thanked my lucky stars it was Heather, not one of her dormies. "I don't supose you were expecting something?" I held out the package that had been outside of 16b.

"Um, no I don't think so. Hold on a secound", she turned around and asked the other people in the dorm. "No, but I don't think everyone's here at the moment..."

"That's okay, I'll leave it with Miss Reev, if it's one of their's tell them where they can find it, yeah?"

Heather looked confused. "Sorry, who's Miss Reev? This is my first year, I don't really know who's who yet."

"Don't worry, I've been here for over a year and I still don't know who most of them are," I laughed. "So you're a Freshman?"

"No, I'm a sophmore , I just moved here from Maine." I already knew this ofcourse, but I needed to keep her talking.

"From Maine? How come?"

"My old college only houses Freshmen, and the flats were too expensive so I was going to move back in with my parents seeing as they lived pretty nearby. Then my dad got a really good job offer here, then I found out I could get student housing for another year if I transfered," she explained.

"Oh, is your dad a cop by any chance?" I asked innocently.

"Yeah", said Heather. "How did you know?"

"I saw him earlier and you look a lot like him," I answered. "He's working on the Britany Williams case".

Heather nodded. "I heard about that. I feel sorry for the girls who found her! It must have been so scary!"

"They looked pretty scared to me, they ran to my dorm when they found her. It was my boyfriend who called the police because the rest of us were too freaked!"

Her eyes widened. "Really! Oh god, that must have been so horrible! Don't worry, the cops have got some leads."

I almost jumped in happiness, but it wasn't over yet. "Some evidence?"

Heather shook her head. "I didn't get a good look. One of those wrist bands I think, or what was left of it," she laughed. "I shouldn't be telling you this."

"Ah, don't worry", I said, laughing too. "I won't tell. Miss Reev is in the main office in the main building. You can't miss it. See you round!"

"Okay, thanks," she said then shut the door.

I delivered the package to door 16b because I'm not a rotten theif, but my mind was whizzing. A wrist band? "Or what was left of it"? The cheerleaders wore wristbands sometimes, but it definately wasn't hard evidence, it was barely anything to go on at all.

Feeling a little disapointed I trudged back to my dorm block to find Olivia and Eric for some irrational ideas and some sensible ones.

I found Irrational first.

"It's obvious what we need to do", she told me when I filled her in.

"Whats that then?" I asked as we shared a packet of cheesepuffs.

"A steakout ofcourse!"

"On Amaryliss?"

"She's our main suspect isn't she?" said Olivia.

"Steakout it is then", I agreed.

I know this is taking me a while but I have lots of exams coming up which means extra homework for me, but I'll try to do some chapters every weekend.
