Okay sorry for the horrible drawing, but it's just a rough cause I can't draw very detailed objects.
So what if when the eggs are laid, they are like grey blobs of jelly, and as they get closer to hatching the shells get harder and adjust to the colour pattern of the Squishy and turn into rock candy? And when the egg hatches the hatchling eats the rock candy. :3
