04 ; "She's too good for me."
ELLA AND LAINE WALKED down the sidewalk to school with Dinger and Bobby behind them. It's been a week since everything happened with Dumas. Ella woke up to an empty bed the next day, Dinger was no where in sight and had left, they haven't had an actual conversation since.
"Why won't he talk to you?" Laine asked quietly, Ella shrugged in response, "Better yet, why won't you talk to him?"
"He hasn't spoken to me, that's why. Hell, Laine, he hasn't even looked at me." Ella looked down at her feet hoping that Laine wouldn't press the matter anymore.
Laine sighed and patted Ella's shoulder, "I know you don't want me to keep talking about it, but you need to try to talk him, Ella."
Ella nodded her head in agreement, she needed to talk to him, maybe start a conversation or confront him about ignoring her. Laine looked back at Bobby, to see him looking at her, and shrugged her shoulders, the couple knew something was up and they put it upon themselves to figure it out.
"Dinger, why haven't you talked to her?" Bobby asked his friend, Dinger hadn't been acting like himself lately.
"Ella?" Bobby nodded his head, Dinger sighed and shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, man. I just, I just don't fucking know. I don't wanna ignore her, but I'm.. I'm-"
"Scared?" Bobby suggested, Dinger gave his friend a slight nod, "Why? Why are you scared, Dinger?"
"I don't wanna lose her. It's just that I'm getting these weird feelings, it's like I'm sick to my stomach, but I'm happy." Dinger tried to explain how he felt, which is something he normally doesn't do, "I'm scared of these feelings I get when I'm around her, Bobby."
Bobby sent him a small smile, "You like her, dude. You like her, holy shit, ask her out. You gotta do something."
"I don't like her, Bobby." Dinger said in a hard voice, trying to deny it, but you could see in his eyes that he was lying.
"No, you do. Hell, Dinger, you probably love her and you don't even know it." Bobby was giddy that his best friend finally came to his senses and started to realize that he liked, maybe loved, Ella.
Dinger didn't say anything, he just looked down at his feet and shrugged. He knew how he felt, but it was hard for him to express it, to say it. He wasn't use to telling people how he felt, no one ever seemed to really care.
"You gotta tell her." Bobby suddenly said catching Dinger off guard.
"No, no, no." Dinger shook his head so quickly that Bobby swore that he probably gave himself whiplash, "I can't. What if we break up or something? I can't risk it, I can't risk losing her, losing our friendship."
