Dragons: The strongest of the original five races on Miru, they slowly went extinct as their homeland was made desert in the conflagration. The dragons were long dead by the time humans had arrived in the world.

Dragon War: In the ancient era, the dragons essentially ruled Miru, they acted as mediators and peacekeepers between the other four races when disagreements arose and there was widespread peace and great prosperity for all. A young dragon named Kaziti, a protege with magic of all kinds, became widely renowned for his skill, his greatest achievement being the creation of a portal system connecting the far reaches of Miru. As he grew older Kaziti began to practice the magic of foresight and prophecy so he may better guide the inhabitants of the world. However, what he saw frightened him deeply. He saw the mass death of his people, the destruction of his homeland, and above all else, his death at the hands of the other four races. He knew that a war of his people against the other four races would indeed cause massive loss of life for both sides and that he must do everything in his power to keep the peace, regardless of his personal peril, as this was the purpose of the dragons. He toured the world looking everywhere for signs of dissent, unrest, or anything that could lead to an uprising against the dragons. As he traveled he bestowed upon each race a gift of great magic, for the Lithes he created the two pillars of light within their sister ports, so they may never be lost at sea. For the Lupuos he enchanted the falls of Miakoda, so it's cascades would forever shine with moonlight and its water would cure any illness. For the Aderyn he constructed the shrine of Sultden, to make the skies over the sea always filled with updrafts and smooth air so that they may fly over it with ease. For the elves he grew the vast Stone Grove, a magnificent collection of great stone trees for the Queen and her council to conduct their affairs. Content in his gifts, Kaziti returned to his land and carefully wrote out a series of codes for all races to follow that would ensure peace. But his codes did not have the intended effect. Instead of keeping peace his codes caused widespread displeasure. The other races chafed at his restrictions, no matter how small. Many questioned the authority of the dragons to regulate their actions in such a way, where they were once mediators, they people said, they had become administrators. Kaziti, caught off guard by the very poor reactions to his codes, quickly revoked them and instated different codes he believed to be more agreeable. This cycle continued for some years as Kaziti became more and more anxious as, no matter what he did, no matter what codes he created, even when he revoked them all for a time, his visions of the dragon's demise never changed and always his death came from an attack by the other races. His desperation to escape the seemingly unavoidable future for his people became a crazed madness. In his despair he drew up an army of followers devoted to his service and the preservation of their kind, he would suppress revolt by force if he had to. To ensure his success he poured the magic of his people and parts of his very soul into the creation of a magic stone, stronger than any other magic the world had seen, that he would use to display his strength and force the submission of the other races without fighting through his show of overwhelming power. The other four races, having already assembled small armies, strengthened their forces. The leaders of each race, seeing the powerful magic Kaziti had created, replicated his actions, infusing a stone with the combined magic of their people and fragments of the leader's own soul in an effort to combat the protege dragon's now even greater strength. However, the four races were forced to retreat when faced with the awesome destruction Kaziti was capable of as he and his forces attacked them one by one. The leaders of the four met at a final refuge by the falls of Miakoda and made a pact to defeat Kaziti with their combined efforts and end the devastation he was unleashing upon everyone and everything. In a final and fierce confrontation, the maddened Kaziti was slain by the coalition of the four leaders wielding their own magic stones and Kaziti's forces were driven back, with much effort and bloodshed, to their own land. After the war all five races were broken and their lands devastated. Relations between the peoples dimmed as they retreated within their damaged societies to rebuild. The Aderyn had suffered the most losses of the four defending races, being the only able to engage in aerial combat against the dragons. After the war they went into hiding entirely so they might safely rebuild their people and their society, and avoid any future entangling alliances that might replicate the devastating losses they experienced here.

Conflagration (***Needs Research***): Some decades after the dragon war, large amounts of solar activity began to scorch the equator of the planet, within which the dragons had built their society. As the other four societies moved away from the land experiencing this harsh heat, the dragons attempted to follow, but were repelled by the other races, still bitter from the war and not eager to be sharing land with the aggressors who had caused them so much pain. As the dragons attempted to find new hospitable land away from the other races, they quickly began to die off, extremely susceptible to the heat as their internal body temperature had to be kept cool or the fire within them would burn too hot and kill them. In an effort to escape the heat the dragons created underground dwellings where they hoped to wait out the heat of the day. This worked for some years until the environment around them began to die and their prey left or died off with them until finally the dragons too died of heat or starved. This period of intense heat along the equator and eventually warming the entire world lasted nearly half a century and created a giant ring of harsh desert around the planet. There has been no evidence the dragons survived this time but many of their stone structures and underground dwellings that have not collapsed can be seen in the desert sands of Asodun.
