How I became Savannah Solo Part 3

I woke up at 7:30 and got out of bed. I put on my cheer shirt, travel pants, and my pink uggs. I put my hair in a bun and grabbed my bag. I got in my jeep and went to chick-fil-a. I went to the school and parked next to Garvin. I sat next to Kiley as the bus pulled out. I saw Alex, Tobin, Kelley and Hope following behind us. We went for hours until we finally stopped at the mall. We got off and I introduced Claire, Kiley and Molly to the gals. The 8 of us then went and got lunch. We talked until we had to go change. The gals went with us and we changed into our red uniforms in the bathroom. We put our hair up, did our makeup, and then put our bows in. We packed up our stuff and walked out.

Alex: Baby Horse why is your skirt so short?
Me: Because Garvin messed up my measurements
Kiley: for the second time
Kelley: Well you all look good
Us: thank you
Me: let's go get Starbucks before we have to go to the bus
Molly: yes!

We went to Starbucks and got our drinks. Before going to the bus we said goodbye to the gals and got on. We rode for a couple more hours and then we were finally at the Mercedes Benz Superdome. We were playing Destrehan for the 5A State Championship. The bus went through the gate and into the VIP lot. We got off and walked down a hallway underneath the stadium. We passed a couple football players and Brad was one of them.

Me: hey Babe how are you feeling?
Brad: nervous but good. What about you I heard you guys are performing at halftime.
Me: we are but we've done this dance so many times we could do it in our sleep.
Garvin: Solo stop flirting and let's go!
Me: Bye babe play well
Brad: I'll see you out there

Brad kissed me real quick and then I ran and caught up with my group.

Me: You know it's not flirting if we're already dating.
Garvin: get your smart ass up there and lead the group before I get Nate to throw you up there
Me: I'm going

I got up to the front and lead us down the hall and onto the field. We put our bags down and sat to listen to Garvin. When she finished the football teams were now out and warming up. We started out stretches and a couple practice stunts. After about 40 minutes they had the coin toss and the game started.

In the first quarter Destrehan scored a touchdown but missed the field goal making it 0-6. In the last couple minutes Brad threw a 40 yard pass to Justin who turned out the defender and scored the touchdown. Matt made the field goal to make it 7-6.

The second quarter started and Destrehan had the ball. The ball turned over back and forth for a while. In the 8th minute our team intercepted and we got first down. In between plays Garvin came up to me panicked.

Garvin: Solo do you still have the music for the dance on your phone?
Me: Yeah why?
Garvin: They just told me that they lost our music up in the box and I don't have it on my phone anymore. Can you run your phone up to the box and be back in 4 minutes? You're the only that knows the way clearly.
Me: It will be close but I will try
Garvin: okay go

I grabbed my phone and Garvin gave me her coach's pass. I took off and ran down to hallway to the other side of the stadium. I sprinted up the many ramps and finally made it to the box. Mr. Ainsworth was up there with the crew.

Mr. A: Savannah what are you doing up here?
Me: This is...our...music for...halftime...I'll be...back...to get my...phone...All you...have to do...is...hit play.

I handed the sound guy my phone and took off. I ran down the ramps and to the field. I made it right as the whistle was being blown.

Garvin: Good you made it.
Me: barely
Garvin: grab some water and then hop in formation

I got water and then walked out with the girls. The music started and Kiley and I did our tumbling pass while the girls did their toe touch tuck. We got in formation and did the dance. We moved to pyramids and did our sequences. We finished with our heel stretch. We held it and then full downed. We walked off the field and we had 20 minutes to get food or just take a break. I walked back to the box and got my phone. I texted Hope and asked here where she was.

We meet up by the concession stand. While we waited we took pictures. I got my nachos and then had to go back to the field.

The 3rd quarter started and Destrehan took the lead with the only touchdown of the quarter making it 7-13.

The 4th quarter started and it was intense. We finally got a chance in the last two minutes. We were at the 40 yard line and it was 4th down. Our wide receiver were covered but Brad saw and opening. He ran through the gap and dodged tackles. He kept going and was tackled into the end zone for the touchdown. We went for the two point conversion. Justin had an amazing catch and we got the points making it 15-13 with 52 seconds left. They let the clock run out.

The whistle blew and we all cheered. Once all the players got out of their dog pile I ran to Brad. I jumped and he caught me and spun me around.

Me: you did it Babe, I'm so proud of you!
Brad: well I had someone cheering me on from the sidelines
Me: always now go get your trophy captain.

Brad went with his team and got the trophy. The whole team, coaches, and spirit teams got on the field and took a picture. We got our bags and I found Hope and the girls.

Hope: Goodbye Baby Horse.
Me: bye Hopey
Tobin: bye Baby Horse you looked good out there tonight.
Me: Thank you, bye Tobs.
Alex: bye Twin. You did amazing tonight!
Me: thank you Twin.
Kelley: Why is this always so hard?
Me: I don't know Squirrel; hopefully I will be seeing you in December.
Kelley: You better be. Bye Baby Horse good luck with high school soccer.
Me: thank you. Bye Squirrel

We all hugged and then I had to go. I got on the bus and we changed out of our uniforms. I put on my sports bra and my red Nike shorts. The bus took off and then cheeseburger were passed back. After we ate we all fell asleep.
