I stayed up a couple more hours before heading to bed myself. I crawled under the nice warm sheets. Winter in Vancouver got pretty cold and his apartment heat wasn't as great as you'd expect. The sheets felt warm and soft as I snuggled in for the night.
I woke up around 2 am and was freezing. I searched for a blanket in the closet, only to find the one I used last time was back on the top shelf with the others. I couldn't reach and there was no step stool. I looked in the living room and there were none there either. I knocked on Jared's door. He came and opened it. I was shaking like a leaf.
"What's wrong?" He asked groggily with a sigh.
"I c-can't reach the blankets and I'm freezing."
"What about the one you used last time?"
"You p-put it back." He nodded and came and grabbed me one. I got in bed and was still shivering even with the blanket.
"I'll turn the heat up a little when I head back to bed." I nodded. He kissed me on the forehead before heading out.
"Dad, sorry to wake you up."
"Don't be. It's ok." I smiled back at him and went to sleep. I got up mid morning and looked at my texts to see what the lunch plan was.
Hey. Why don't you meet me at set and we'll go somewhere for lunch? Jared suggested.
Why don't I bring lunch? It's easier and that way you can be sure you're back to film in time.
Ok. Sounds good. You know what I like.
Yep. See you soon. I felt so bad about making him get up only a couple hours before his alarm would have. I know he didn't get a lot of sleep. I decided to make lunch. Nothing fancy just decided to make us sandwiches. I knew how he liked his and I made mine how I liked. I grabbed a couple bags of chips for us and put it all in a brown bag. Clif showed up soon after, ready to take me to set. I got in the car with him and we headed out.
"It's good to see you again, Sarah."
"You too, Clif."
"So how is it being with Jared again? You haven't really gotten to see him since the convention." He questioned.
"It's good. He's trying to make up for not talking to me much so things are going fine."
"That's good. You know if you ever want to come by set for the day, just ask me. I'll come pick you up. There should be no reason you are kept from spending time with him."
"But the producer said no family or friends on set during filming because it distracts the actors." I objected.
"Don't worry about him. He's not gonna stop you." I nodded. We pulled up to set and walked in. They had just finished filming and were ready for their lunch break.
"Hey, dad."
"Hey." He gave me a hug before yawning.
"I'm really sorry about waking you up so early this morning. If I thought I could have lasted until you got up, I would have waited."
"Don't apologize. It's fine. I would have been tired either way. So what's for lunch?" He asked as we sat at a table.
"Sandwiches I made before I came over." I gave him his sandwich and his bag of chips.
"This looks really good. You know what I like. Thanks for making me lunch."
"No problem." We sat there and ate and talked for a while. "Do you think I can stay and hang around while you film?" I asked.
