"No mum. You know the reason you have had Zack is so I could meet my deadlines for the promotion!!" I said sounding frustrated.

"Yeah yeah I know. I was just pulling your leg. As if you would come in here happy over a guy." My mum said sarcastically. I was trying not to get pissed off but it's like all she ever did was focus on me having a man.

"What is your problem? I got a promotion today which means I am going to get more money, more responsibility so I can build a better life for myself and Zack!! Any mother would be proud but no not my mum!" I said annoyed.

"I am happy for you darling...I just don't want to see you lonely..." Before I knew what I said I had said it.

"Like you?"

"Yeah Alexandra...like me." I sighed. I knew she was annoyed at me.

"Look. Today is meant to be a good day. I come here and it's like you're trying to rain on my parade. I'm going to go before anything else is said that shouldn't." I said and went to my old room which is now Zack's room and packed his stuff. I came back downstairs and my mum was smoking and had a glass of brandy in her cup. I rolled my eyes because she never smokes in front of Zack. So clearly I knew she was in a 'don't give a fuck' attitude. I told Zack to put on his coat and told him to wait by the door. I stared at my mum until she looked at me. Then I walked up to her.

"By the way, you ain't lonely. Zack and I love you. Dad was a fool for leaving you." I told her and kissed her head before leaving. I loved my mum and didn't want to see her sad; however I was in a good mood and I would be damned if I let my mum change that.

I went and got pizza for myself and Zack as that was our favourite and headed home. I messaged the girls telling them the good news, they congratulated me and we all made a pact that from now on we would meet up every once a month to catch up and spend time. Well more Tasha made the choice and we all agreed. I liked the sound of that anyway. After me and Zack finished eating we watched movies until we fell asleep.

The next day I was up early doing my usual  house cleaning followed by my weekly exercise session. I should really start going to Tasha's gym but I would need a sitter. That was another thing, I was thinking about having a nanny just for a couple hours here and there.

I had just finished having my shower after my exercise when Zack comes into my room.

"Mummy, Mummy, phone." I looked at him and could hear some noise coming from my phone I took it and there was a man on the other end via FaceTime. I vaguely recognised him. It was the guy from the Petrol station. I couldn't believe it. I gave Zack my phone and of all people he called him.

Not even called...FACETIME.

"Oh my god. I am so sorry I think my son face timed you by mistake." I said. I noticed the disappointment in his face.

"Oh. Never mind then." He said. He was very handsome. I guess I was staring a bit too much.

"You okay?" He asked taking me out of my trance.

"Yeah...yeah sorry I was just thinking how of all people my son managed to FaceTime you. No offence."

"None taken. Maybe it was fate." He said. I laughed.

"I don't believe in fate." I told him.

"You should." He said. As he talked I took in more and more of his beauty.

"Mummy, I said hello" Zack said as he tried to look in the phone.

"Hello and what's your name young man." He asked.

"Zack"

"Hello Zack." Zack smiled.

"Dad, can we go park now?" I heard a young voice say.

"Have you finished your lunch Jeremih?" He asked.

"Noooo." The young voice moaned.

"So why are we talking about park?"

"But daaadddd..."

"No butts Jay. Kitchen. Now."

"Ohhhhhh" I heard the young voice sulk.

"Sorry about that."

"No worries. You have a son then?" I asked.

"Yeah, he's four."

"How old is your son?"

"Three"

"Oh okay, not far apart. So you must get the same."

"Yep."

"Noooo" Zack butted in.

"Zack I know you know that children should be seen and not heard. Yet I can hear you. Go to your room." I said and mushed him gently in his head.

"Not fair." He said and ran off.

"So, if you have a son, he must have a mum, so as you asked me out to eat, I'm taking it she's not in the picture. So do you have him on the weekends?" I asked.

"Nope. Full time. Everyday." He answered. I frowned.

"So then she must still be in the picture."

"Not necessarily."

"Yes. What mum isn't there for their son." He put his head down. I just shook my head. Here he was trying to take me out and clearly his baby mother was still on the scene.

"She died giving birth. Jeremih has never met his mother. I have been both parents all his life." He answered sounding really hurt. If there was ever a time I wish I could rewind, now would be it. Here I am judging him and for what?

"I am so sorry."

"It's cool. Look. Seeing as it was actually your son that called me. I hope next time it will be because you have decided to take me up on my offer. Now if you'll excuse me I gotta finish up so I can take Jay to the park. Have a good day." He said. I smiled and he hung up. I don't know if he was mad at me or not. He still wanted us to go to dinner so he couldn't have been that mad.

Something about him had me wanting to get to know him. I hadn't felt like that in ages. I shook the feeling and decided to call Jess and see if she wanted company or for me to come over. She was happy to come over. I was glad.

Whilst I got ready I kept thinking about the conversation I had with Calum. I had to laugh at myself. This was very much unlike me. I was trying to not think about him but the more I tried not to was the more I did.

I wondered if maybe in the near future I would be hungry and if his offer would still be on the table.
