“She’s not Natalie. Alice is, well Alice. She’s nice, kind, soft, brave yet still so fragile. She’s been through a lot, most of it she didn’t even deserve. We’ve both made bad dating decisions which cost us a lot.” I informed him.

“So, are you going to tell me her story?” Dave asked.

“Not much to tell. She got raped by her boyfriend at 12. Then she had Alec. He came back when she was 14 and did it again. Then she had Alex. He came back a third time, but I stopped him and have been ever since.” I shortened it, and left out a lot of detail, just giving him the bare minimum.

“Wow, so why haven’t you guys called the police in yet?” Dave asked.

“Xavier’s good at hiding from them. As far as the police know, there isn’t even an Xavier Gold on this earth.” I told him.

“Are you serious? Is that even possible?” Dave asked.

“I don’t know man, but I’m going to get rid of him, for Alice, Alex and Alec.” I told him.

“That’s brave of you, dude.” Dave commended.

We went back to the hotel and started working again, while chatting a little in between. We managed to get everything done, before 6 and I rushed home to Alice, Alex and Alec.

Alice’s POV

After my nap I was calmer than before, but still worried about what Nathan was going to tell me. I mean I had Xavier but that was by force, and he had tricked me. Nathan couldn’t be forced into anything, though he could have been tricked.

The kids where playing around the hotel room, because it was huge, when Nathan came home. He came through the door, with his suitcase that held business stuff in it.

“I’m home!” Nathan yelled throughout the suite.

The kids came running, screaming daddy, into his arms, just like at Nathan’s work.

“Hey, kids! How are you?” Nathan asked, kissing each of them on the cheek.

They snuggled against Nathan, missing him. I was always around, no matter what, because if the kids were hurt or anything I would be there in a heartbeat, even at home. Nathan hadn’t been here for the first 3 or 4 years of their life, they were making up for lost time, I guess.

“So, what do you guys want to do today?” Nathan asked, putting them down.

“They’ve thought a lot about this, you know?” I told him.

“Oh, have they? And what have they picked?” Nathan asked me, kissing my cheek.

“I want to see the big lady on the water with the light.” Alec says, while Alex nods, excited.

Nathan and I smile at that, as we get the kids dressed. It was chilly outside and I didn’t want them to get sick. Nathan and I went to get dressed as well. Then with the kids in each hand, we left to go see lady liberty. Alex and Alec were jumping around excited, while we waited for the ferry to pick us up.

“So…who’s Natalie?” I asked, indiscreetly.

I heard Nathan sigh, as if he didn’t want to tell me. Well I hadn’t wanted to tell him about Xavier either, so it was inevitable.

“Natalie was the ex girlfriend. Like Xavier, he was your ex too.” Nathan started off.

“I had met her in middle school, 8th grade I think. She was really sweet and nice, so we started off as friends, and then we slowly went to dating. She started to change after we starting dating for a bit. None of my family members like her anymore, Kate especially hated her. Soon though, I realized she didn’t just hang out and flirt with me, she was hanging out and flirting with others. Obviously I told her to stop. She then started to do it secret, soon she got pregnant and came to me for help. Her friend had come to me some time that same day and told me she was just using me, that she really liked my money not me. So naturally when she came to me for help, I dumped her and she got all mad, saying she didn’t do anything. I told her what I found out and she was outraged, she left. Never saw her again.” Nathan said.
