I met you in the dark
You lit me up
You made me feel as though
I was enough
We danced the night away
We drank too much
I held your hair back when
You were throwing upI knew I loved you then
But you'd never know
'Cause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go
I knew I needed you
But I never showed
But I wanna stay with you
Until we're grey and old
Just say you won't let go
Just say you won't let goSay You Won't Let Go

Georgina had tailed the Saviors for the days the past since she last left Greenview. She and Matt watched and waited, holding out for something thag could help them. The Saviors had multiple settlements held in their grasp, some small and others moderatly sized but none with the bulk of what they needed. She didn't think handing a few scared men a pitchfork and telling them to fight would save anyone. She needed somewhere he hadn't touched yet, she needed people. And a lot of them.
"We're not getting any closer to figuring out how to fix this mess," Gina sighed, running her fingers through her dark hair, "All we've found out so far is how utterly screwed we all are. There are hundreds. Hundreds of them."
"Hundreds of people that are forced to work for a man who gives them nothing," Matt said, resting a hand on her shoulder as they watched vans drive to and from Sanctuary. She had a chance to fully map out the complex in the past days and it was much bigger than she had initially thought. Negan had used every building clustered around the sherriff's station. The gun range was his arena, every available space was filled with everything he had taken.
"People just need a push, Gina. They need to know that there is better for them.""How do we show them that?" She shook her head, "This whole situation is one giant cluster-fuck. How many more people need to die before he's satisfied?"
"I need to get inside, then I can start spreading something to help us," Matt suggested and Georgina shook her head.
"That's not happening," She said sternly, "People could remember you, Matt. You'd get killed if you said a word to the wrong person."
"Is there something else we can do?" Matt argued, "We're running out of options and time."
Georgina frowned. He had a point, and a valid idea. If they could get inside they could do a hell of a lot more than they could standing out and watching. She could befriend someone and she could go below the radar to find out what she needed to know. To know the secrets of the Saviors could save them all. But, she would not let Matt walk back in there. There are things worse than death, especially for someone who walked away from the Saviors and survived.
"We'll talk to the settlements first before we do something like that," She suggested, "If we make some allies, it could help."
"Okay," Matt caved but Georgina could see that the idea was still in his head. She'd roll over and die before she'd let the Saviors take another from her. She could see two black trucks pulling out of Sanctuary, it was her best chance, and she would take it.

The settlement was small, and they didn't put up a fight when the Saviors rolled up to their gates. They were as broken as the Survivors and much lower in numbers. She cast her eyes to Matt, studying his beautiful face as he watched the Saviors. She could see the perfect line of his jaw as his teeth clenched tightly together, and his dark hair as it flowed into his slightly stubbled jaw.
She knew she cared about him, she'd even call it love, but her head always caged her heart.
"You take left and I'll take the right, " She said, "Find out whatever you can and we'll meet back here and decide if we can trust them."
Matt nodded and Georgina didn't give him a chance to say anything more before she ducked down and ran towards the settlement and the two trucks that were parked outside as the Saviors ransacked the small settlement. It wasn't more than a couple houses and a fenced farm. She came to the edge of the treeline and pressed her back against the large oak. She looked bacm but Matt was gone.
"Breathe, Gina," She soothed herself, "You can do this."
She could see the one armed Savior guarding the trucks and keeping an eye on anything that could pass. Georgina ducked down and dashed to the side of the nearest truck, her back pressed against the cool metal. She sidestepped to the edge and peered around the Savior only a few metres away. She shut her eyes tight and inhaled a deep breath. She glanced again as the Savior strode over to the gates to check on the progress. She took that as her chance. She rounded the corner and soundlessly hopped into the back of the van, seating herself down behind stacks of boxes. She placed her bow on the ground and tucked her knees into her chest.
She could hear the Saviors as they approaced the back of the truck. She sucked in a deep breath and calmed her unsteady heart as they packed the boxes into the back of the truck. She would be stepping into the Lion's Den, and she was terrified.
Georgina heard the doors of the trucks shut, and the subtle roar of the engine as it chugged to life. She didn't know if she'd see Matt again, or if he'd forgive her for throwing herself into Death's arms. She heard someone climb into the back of the van and she prayed it was only a Savior checking the stock, because she doubted she'd stay undetected with one sitting so near her.
"Georgina?" She heard his whisper as the truck started to drive down the bumpy road. She cursed and stood up from behind the boxes.
Matt sighed in relief, stepping over the boxes so he stood before her. He cupped her face with his hands, the pad of his thumb running over her lips as her breath caught in her throat.
"Get out of here, Matt," She pushed him back, her voice raised to a stern demand, "I am not loosing someone else."
"And I'm not loosing you!" Matt protested, grabbing Georgina's wrist as she moved to push him back.
"Get out of here, Matt," She seethed, "Now. Or I swear I'll push you out of this fucking truck."
"Don't you realise I'm not going to let you go?" He said and she shook her head, pressing both her hands against his chest.
Georgina's breath caught in her throat as he grabbed both her arms and pushed her back against the side of the van. He pressed her back against the metal panelling, caging her between him and the truck wall. He pinned her arms down and before she could even protest he pressed his lips against hers, a ferocious heat between them both. She gasped as he moved his hands down her body, and she knitted hers in his hair, kissing him with the heat of every inch of desire she so felt. His lips moved from hers, and down the base of her neck. She cursed.
"I'm not letting you go," He muttered between kisses as his lips met hers again. She hadn't the will to push him away, nor did she want to."Don't ever let me go," She whispered as his kisses became more tender.
The wheels continued to turn and the gates of Sanctuary grew ever so much closer.
Neither of them realised that to walk through the gates of Hell, you must be willing to burn.~•~
