He could never get the words out of his mouth. He would end up stuttering or someone would interrupt. He wanted to say the three words but he just couldn't. He was scared of rejection, scared of ruining their friendship.

He had many opportunities to say it but he never would. Emil did love (Y/N), with every part of his heart. He was just scared of saying it.

Emil and (Y/N) were sitting in the library. Tons of books surrounded them and there was a silence. The two were reading books about topics they liked. Emil was reading about (favourite animal); (Y/N) was reading about puffins.

"Hey Emil, what do you think of me?"

Emil looked baffled and a blush threatened to blow up on his face.

"W-what? Why are you asking me that?"

The girl just shrugged and put her book down.

"I'm just curious."

Emil put his book down too but his hand lingered onto it just in case. Just in case he had to quickly pack his stuff and escape the room. Just in case he blurted out something embarrassing.

"You're really nice... your kind and caring. You look really p-pretty and you're a really good person."

Emil's blush deepened so it was now visible under the library's light.

"Thanks Emil."

"That jerk."

Emil was sitting with (Y/N) in her living room.

"That bastard jerk."

(Y/N) was suffering from a breakup. She was in tears, her hair was down and ruffled. She was curled up in a ball and her head was pressed into a pillow.

"Don't worry (Y/N). He doesn't deserve you... you're smart and w-wonderful. You don't need him."

Emil left his mouth open to say something more but quickly shut it. (Y/N) revealed her face from the pillow.

"Thanks Emil."

(Y/N) and Emil, along with his roommates and brother, were at a funfair.

"I'm happy you invited me Emil."

(Y/N) was smiling happily, Emil knew how much she loved funfairs. She was carrying a pink stuffed rabbit she won and some candy floss.

"You're welcome."

Emil had felt brave at this moment.

"(Y/N), I... I l-l..."

The words refused to come out, he just couldn't.

"Hey (Y/N)! Come with me and Lukas to this rollercoaster!"

Matthais' words interrupted Emil. Matthais had grabbed (Y/N) and Lukas and ran to a nearby rollercoaster.

"Thanks Emil, again!" She shouted.

Emil promised himself that he was going to do it today. He would say 'I love you' to (Y/N). He was planning to walk up to by the lockers.

He speed walked his way through the school and expected to see only (Y/N). However, he saw another familiar figure next her... his older brother, Lukas. Emil stopped in his tracks and hid behind the corner.

"(Y/N)..."

"Yes Lukas?"

"I love you."

"W-what!? I love you too!"

Those words hurt Emil so much. They weren't directed at him but his brother. Emil turned around and walked away. He knew he could never say those words now.
