Companion?
─────𐬹◦✩◦𐬹─────This was fun to write but at the same time I feel kinda sad, because you know, Remus— I might write more of these tho, if that's oki--
Lukas stood silently behind a tree. It was a dark night, and on the sky was a symbol of werewolves, a full moon. That was the reason why he was here, he had been ordered to kill a werewolf for a good sum of money.
The werewolf had been terrorising the nearby town quite often. Some even went to great lengths by leaving human 'bait', mainly young girls. That, obviously, didn't work.
He crouched down silently, making sure not to rustle the leaves on the muddy ground. He had spotted a large figure in the trees, so he assumed it was the part-human beast.
A snap of a branch gave away the location of the monster immediately. Lukas turned his head to the left and reminded himself of the description of a Werewolf, a person who changes for periods of time into a wolf, typically when there is a full moon.
Poor man, Lukas thought, just because he isn't considered 'normal', he has to die.
He took out his arrow, placing a slender finger onto the sharp silver edge. Silver is the best method for Werewolves. Lukas always had preferred traditional weapons to the modern ones, hence the bow and arrows. He then felt his belt for a couple of pouches, they contained herbs which were also used against these beasts: rye, mistletoe, and mountain ash.
He placed the arrow into its correct position in the oddly carved bow. He held it down low and stood up. He then proceeded to move slightly closer to the source of the sound, his feet barely audible.
He raised the bow and arrow, squinting his eyes to see better in the darkness.
Suddenly, out of the bushes jumped out a... ginger squirrel?
Lukas' eyes widened as he realised his amateur mistake and cursed himself for not getting enough sleep. He turned round, helplessly looking for any sources for an actual monster.
He quickly noticed the leaves of a shrub shaking and no wind blowing. He shot the arrow there, without any thinking.
A low whine tore the air.
Slowly, a large creature began to form from behind the bushes. It had long claws, as sharp as a professionally made sword. It had dirty, brown fur, an absolute mess like the towns after such full moon. Its eyes had a perplexing dark glow.
It whined again, this time louder, and began stiffly making his way over to Lukas. The large feet caused many branches and twigs to break and snap as it walked.
Lukas backed away, looking around. The trees' bark was too flat and branchless to climb. I'm fucking dead, was the only thought that flooded his mind like a sudden waterfall.
He took another arrow and shot it at the Werewolf. It only growled and winced as it pulled the arrow from his arm and snapped it easily.
Lukas took a deep breath and began to run, run as fast as he could. Running away from death wasn't the best idea but who cared? He still had another week to complete this difficult task so he decided to simply retreat.
The beast sneered and began the chase. Its long feet was a big advantage and so caught up to Lukas quickly. It pulled back its long arm and paw as it blocked Lukas off. In a swift and fluid movement, he swung the arm down and created a scar and couple of cuts onto Lukas' chest. The male simply staggered back and continued to run, without any other option.
He glanced at the moon as he ran. He had a few hours to survive without getting murdered, die of blood loss or exhaustion or get hypothermia, great.
What took him by big surprise was that he saw another figure lurking in the shadows. The worst of thoughts filled his mind. He shook his head and simply continued to move away from the creature ready to kill him.

After a solid hour of running, shooting and hiding, Lukas was exhausted. Let's not lie, he was no God or Demi-God that had extreme powers in favour of his situation.
He, breathing deeply, leaned against a pine tree and slowly slid down to sit. He brought up some water in a flask and drank greedily. Some beads of water escaped and slipped down his face and chin.
He closed his eyes and accepted his fate. Over one stupid mistake, he was going to die, what a great and well-known Monster Hunter he was.
He let empty thoughts only fill his mind and passed out.

In a sudden jerk and action, Lukas awoke. His back was on a decently soft material and his head too. He opened his eyes and looked round. He was in a room which seemed to be in a cottage-style house.
He looked down at himself and observed all the changes. His ripped shirt was off and his chest had large bandages skilfully and effectively wrapped onto it.
He bit his lip gently and at that moment, the wooden door swung open. A female with (hair colour) hair and (height) size entered the room, carrying things like medication and change of clothes.
The unknown girl gasped quietly when she finally noticed the man awake. She placed all the things she held onto a nightstand and straightened up.
She spoke up, with a foreign accent "You're awake! And alive!"
He slowly nodded, looking up and down her "Indeed, I am. What's your name? And how am I here?"
"I'm (Y/N) and I found you in the forest wounded. I'm presuming you were sent to kill that werewolf off, luckily, he lost you when you passed out, I think." The girl, now know as (Y/N) answered.
Lukas thought for a brief moment before asking "I'm Lukas, and yes, I was. May I ask, did you do this?" He pointed down at his chest. (Y/N) simply nodded. "Ah, I see." He also nodded. One thought persisted his mind at that, she'd be helpful companion.
