(Sage's P.O.V)

I wake up feeling dizzy and heavy chested. After coming to my senses I realized that I was just in my room. A place I know very well; I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. I've never really had many memories in this room, but I still find it somewhat comforting. It's boring living in Ireland, it's bland and too repetitive. I begin getting dressed in the early, sun blazing morning.

I see my breath as I sigh deeply "Why is Wineport so cold..?"

Deciding to get dressed I put on my black, thick rimmed glasses, along with slipping on my black, beat up hoodie with a pair of ripped, grey jeans, and of course my very old, worn down shoes. The shoes were just a regular pair of black and white shoes I've had since I was ten. I walk down the stairs to my kitchen to make some tea. Earl Grey is, personally, my favorite type of tea, always has been, and always will be. Once I finish boiling up the water, I place the tea bag in the hot water along with two lumps of sugar, and a little bit of cream. I read my collection of Edgar Allen Poe's works as I sip my tea and sigh in the cold fall morning. I check the time seeing no new notifications, and grab my bag as I head out the door to another day of school.

On the way to school, I get a text from my mum.

Mum:

"Hey Honey, I won't be home until late again but there is leftovers in the fridge! xoxo"

I sigh deeply again. My mother is never home to actually be a mom, and don't even get me started on my dad. He got with my mom because he ended up getting her pregnant, but he ended up just leaving her for another woman. The girl he left her for is a model, and I bet he's all the way in Brazil by now. I knew him up until I was ten but I always had a bad feeling about him; he was a rotten egg, crude and ignorant. I still can't believe he landed a spot with a model. My mother isn't ugly by any means, but she doesn't look like me at all. No one in my family looks like me. I'm the oddball I suppose you could say, in both personality and looks.

I trot down the hill that's right in front of the school, but then I feel myself bump into something and I'm on the ground.

"Oomph! H-Hey watch where you're going." I say while rubbing my head and standing up.

They end up just glaring at me and walking away. I don't have many friends, and for some reason people glare at me randomly. I usually just end up avoiding eye contact or looking the other way. I'm not very sure why I get the mean looks, maybe because I have a weird family, or maybe because I'm "different" from others. I don't know, but people are so rude and judgmental here and I hate it.

I do have one friend, however, her name is Amelia. We've known each other since we were little. She's also an oddball, but I love her so much, in a friend kind of way that is. She's has short, brown hair, perfect vision, and a freckle on the side of her nose. Her eyes are the color of the ocean, bright and blue. Her personality is also one of a very special kind. She's sweet and kind, but also defensive and smart-mouthed. But, I mean, if she not around I always have my animals. I've always had a special bond with animals. I remember when I was younger, I found a tiny snake on the road. It was probably the most beautiful creature that I'd ever seen. So, when I saw it, I immediately picked it up and surprisingly it let me. It snuggled right up into my warm palm and fell asleep. I decided to bring it home with me. My mother, on the other hand, wasn't very thrilled about seeing a snake just curled up on my hand. However, in the end I was able to persuade her to let me keep him. He's a sleek, black snake with emerald eyes. I named him Lone and he's been my little companion ever since I was little.

I hear a voice calling my name and get pulled out of my train of thought.

"Sage? Sageeee!" I hear a high but sweet sounding voice.

"Oh, Hey Amelia" I smile once I realize it's her and we start telling each other about our mornings.

"It was an alright morning, same old same old. Someone ran into me again and ended up just glaring at me" I tell her with a sigh.

"Grr... I'd go off on them, hurting my frie-" I cut her off.

"Amelia, really, it's fine, I'm used to it by now. Plus, it was only a little push, nothing to get worked over about." I tell her reassuringly. She sighs but calms down quickly, taking my words genuinely and we walk into the school around 7:20.

School doesn't start until 8:30 so we have plenty of time to goof around and do what ever the bloody hell we want. We usually laugh at each others stupid jokes and just talk about our life goals or aspirations. We can usually go on and on about this topic but we always get interrupted by the warning bell. We part ways, my class is in the 300 building and her's is all the way over to the 800 building.

"Wanna hang out after school Sage?" I hear her call out.

"Of course, my house!" I giggle and walk to my first period class, awaiting the long boring day to start.
