19.1 the one who returns

"Nayeon, let go of me."

The older girl, drenched in tears slowly removed her hands from Dahyun's waist. The shorter girl turned around and she didn't look too happy. She scoffed after minutes of silence.

"Are you kidding me, Nayeon? You just gave me the cold treatment for two years because you thought I cheated on you and now you're doing the same exact thing to Mina? What did she do to deserve this kind of love?"

Nayeon bowed her head, tears forming in her bloated eyes. She bit her lip as the guilt finally hit her. I'm a terrible person... I can't believe I just, did that. She couldn't even look Dahyun in the eye. She felt ashamed of herself. Dahyun was right. Mina doesn't deserve her; she doesn't deserve a cheating girlfriend like her. Especially, one that's a hypocrite.

"Nayeon, look at me." Dahyun lifted her chin and Nayeon immediately pushed her hand down and refused to look at her face.

Dahyun slowly nodded, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for being so blunt, but I just... can't believe you did that. It's been two years, unnie. I just confessed my love to Momo and it took a lot from me to do that. I've been in love with her ever since that trip in Jeju. And now that I finally gathered my courage to tell her, I'm not letting you break a relationship that has just begun."

Nayeon immediately nodded, wiping her tears in a rush.

"You're right, and I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything."

The ashamed girl ran off, feeling humiliated like never before. It wasn't Dahyun's fault; she was a fool, who knew nothing about love.

As Nayeon arrived in her house, she laid on her bed and took her phone out.

10 Missed Calls from Minari~

She felt her heart drop to her stomach. She felt sick. Just 2 hours ago, she attempted to cheat on Mina. As someone who was cheated on from the past, she should know better. She did know better; she knew the feeling of not being good enough. She knew how painful it is to know that the person you love, no longer loved you enough to stay committed. She knew how painful it feels to realize that the person you love was no longer in love with you; it was a terrible, terrible feeling.

She closed her eyes, trying her hardest to keep her tears in.

As she took a deep breath, she finally called Mina.

"Nayeon?"

That voice. The voice that waited for hours, anxious of what was happening out of her sight. It was that voice that knew everything even though nothing has been said to her yet. That voice that came from the owner who did not want to hear the three words she knew was coming for her.

"Can we talk?"

"W-we're talking right now..." Mina's voice shook. Another stab at Nayeon's heart.

"I want to see you. Let's meet at the school library, where we first made a deal?"

"...alright."

~~~
As Nayeon waited in the library, she felt nostalgic and depressed, staring at all the books surrounding her. Everything felt fresh like it was back when she first met Mina. She had not yet known how special the girl was going to be when she took her for another girl she was just simply attracted to.
Yet, it turned out differently than she expected. Mina is different- she was someone Nayeon wanted to spend her entire life with. But now, she didn't know anymore. She was certain Mina still held a special place in her heart, but right now... it was wrong to keep accepting love from a girl who knew nothing. She didn't deserve Mina's love.
