As soon as the call dropped Barry told everyone who knew of Rowan's disappearance. They were glad she had answered for the first time in six months, but none the less they were still concerned for their good friend.
Unfortunately Barry didn't have time to think about his crush because another meta human- as they decided to call them- turned up, threatening his city once again.
So Rowan was set to the side in the corner of his mind for the time being.
Little did he know that a certain vigilante was a little less busy then everyone thought she was.
"You got blood on my suit."
"I think some of it belongs to him." Barry corrects, flinching when another alcohol swab comes in contact with his skin. "Another not-so-friendly meta human."
"Danton Black." In between the pause Dr. Wells takes Cisco catches something from the corner of his eye. Still holding his blood rag in hand he spins, doing karate chops. Barry raises an eyebrow at the man's weird behavior. Noticing eyes on him Cisco points to the empty hallway, his mouth bombing up and down. Shrugging Dr. Wells continues, "A bio-geneticists. Specialized in therapeutic cloning. Growing new organs to replace failing ones."
While everyone was paying attention to Dr. Wells, Cisco was creeping down the hallway. He could have sworn he saw something before. Rounding a corner Cisco jumps out only to be pushed back by a warm gust of wind causing him to yelp.
Barry flashes over at the pained sound, kneeling down to his friend in concern. "What was that?"
"I swear I saw something!" Cisco whines, rubbing his red cheeks.
Caitlin walks over, kneeling to examine her friend. "How did you burn your cheeks? They were just fine a second ago?"
"Now I know I saw something." Cisco exclaims, pointing towards the sky with conviction.
This happened for the continuation of the week. Cisco would swear he saw something and Caitlin and Dr. Wells would ignore him. Barry was trying to cope with the idea of being a man with powers but not the ability to wield them correctly.
So instead of attending to the meta human, Barry was with Iris, trying to forget about Rowan and convince his foster sister to stop writing about the Flash.
A sudden buzzing cuts Iris off.
Sighing Barry answers the call. "Look- I told you I was through."
"I know- but you need to get to S.T.A.R. Labs right now." Caitlin said, wide eyed as she stared down the meta human.
Without a second thought, Barry flashes over there, ready to protect his friends with whatever skills he could possess.
Laughing lightly to himself Cisco watches bemusedly as Caitlin reassures Barry that the Dalton Black in front of them was a clone.
Again, Cisco caught movement from the corner of his eye. Pretending not to notice, Cisco casually peeks at the form only to be shocked to see a girl staring intently at Dalton Black.
Cisco yelps, causing the girl to smirk and disappear into the shadows of the hallway.
"I saw it! It's a girl...." He pauses thinking of something to call her. "Shadow girl!" He exclaims.
Everyone looks at him with perplexed expressions, especially Barry. "Were you not listening to a thing I was saying?" Caitlin sighs.
Cisco frantically shakes his head, "Ah- no- I was to busy watching a girl fade into the shadows!"
"Another meta?" Barry asks.
"Perhaps," Cisco answers, looking in the direction Cisco is busy pointing to. "It may just be Cisco's imagination though. If anyone was in this building we would know."
"Not if they travel through shadows!" Cisco reasons.
Barry sighs, thinking it over, "Let's deal with Dalton Black first- then we can investigate 'Shadow girl'."
Grumbling angrily, Cisco follows orders and joins the team in planning the take down of Dalton Black.
Newly named Shadow girl watches from the pipes in the roof, expression grim as she observes their break down of Dalton's genetic make up. Before anyone could notice her, Shadow girl pushes open the air vent above her and leaves the labs, ready to track down Dalton for herself.
Arriving at the same time as the Flash due to his 'flashing' abilities, Shadow girl watches from the shadows as the Flash confronts Dalton.
Shadow girl decided before arriving that she would allow the Flash to shine, gain his confidence, before she revealed herself. If things got out of hand she would step in.
The girl smirks as hundreds of Dalton's appear, converging on the Flash and beginning to beat him. To anyone else this would have been the ideal time to step in but not to her. She was an experienced vigilante, she knew this was exactly what the Flash needed to step up.
And step up he did. Finding his powers, Flash zooms out of the crowd and into another level. Contacting his friends for help.
With the vote of confidence from his foster father, Barry was able to do it. He caught the prime and collided into a metal poll, thus knocking the prime out. Breathing heavily Barry leans over the railing, seeing all the clones collapsed to the ground.
"It's done."
As soon as those words leave Barry's lips, Dalton rises, ready to finish the Flash off.
In a blur of black and red, Dalton is kicked off the balcony, faster than Barry can process.
Gasping, his friends on the other line spring to life, hearing his exclamation.
"What is it Barry!?"
"Cisco was right..." Barry trails off, seeing a figure hidden by shadows fighting the prime with scary precision.
"Shadow girl!" Cisco whoops.
"Whose side is she on?" Caitlin asks.
"Ours?" That's all he can say, before he decides to step in as well. Barry flashes both the shadow girl and Dalton back to the top level. Disregarding Shadow girl for the time being, Barry glares at Dalton.
Dalton looks to the girl, processing the words she had told him when they fought on the bottom level.
Steeling his expression, Dalton rushes the Flash. Like she had predicted, Barry moves to the side. Dalton's forward momentum propels him into the glass, breaking it and sending him over the edge.
Barry with his fast reflexes catches the man as Shadow girl watches on with an unreadable expression.
"Don't." He hisses, trying to pull Dalton up.
Dalton shakes his head, creating a clone arm and slipping out of the Flash's grip.
Seeing this as the time to reveal herself, Shadow girl places a hand on Barry's shoulder comforting him in a way.
In an instant Shadow girl is pinned to a metal pole, Barry hovering over her, his elbow pressed against her neck.
The exact spot of the girls face is illuminated by a passing helicopter, revealing her face to him.
Barry's breath hitches, a swirling feeling building in his stomach as he releases the girl. "Rowan?" he whispers, the sound disappearing in the wind.
Removing her mask, Rowan shakes out her hair, smirking at the man, "I got your call."
