''Harry! There's a dolphin right beside me oh my god,'' Tibby looks up at me from the water and I grin, seeing her wide grey eyes and her small feet kicking in the water to keep her afloat.

I laugh, waving at her, smiling. She squeals when the dolphin swims right up close to her. Tibby places her hand on its back, tentatively, and the guide tells her to hold onto its fin by the bottom and float her body above the dolphin's body. She does as he says and smiles at me, showing me she's okay. I hold my breath as the dolphin starts swimming, diving in and out of the water. ''If you can't hold your breath, let go!'' I yell at her, when she resurfaces. She nods and beams at me, her whole face lighting up.

After five minutes, we swap and I have a go. It's so awesome to feel the water glide past you, around you, at a high speed. It feels like you're an actual dolphin, swimming through the sea. And the dolphin is gentle and intuitive, it knows you can't hold your breath for long and doesn't go under for more than five seconds. Dolphins are great animals.

''I want another go, please please.'' Tibby hops from one foot to the other, clapping her hands together and I laugh, swallowing some water in the process. The guide nods and lets her have another go.

I climb up onto the side, out of the water and flick my hair back, tying a towel around my waist. Suddenly, the guide starts yelling. I turn around and search for Tibby, but I can only see the fin of the dolphin.

''Shit! What's happened?'' I yell, flinging off the towel and running to the edge. I'm about to jump in when I spot her, or at least, her hair. ''Fuck,'' I curse, diving in.

Before I reach her, I hear the dolphin making noises and I see it nudge her above the water and somehow manage to keep Tibby on its back, out of the water. I swim over to it, as fast as I can, my heart beating hard. I touch the dolphin and pull Tibby towards me, seeing if she's breathing. I let out my breath, thankful. ''Tibby wake up,'' I say, kicking beneath the water to keep us afloat, glad she's breathing.

''Hold onto the dolphin, she'll bring you in!''

I clamp my hand down on its fin, and it starts swimming slowly and carefully back to the edge, where the guide pulls Tibby out and onto the ground. I jump up after her, kneeling on the floor.

Tibby opens her eyes and grins lightly, ''I couldn't hold on, I got out of breath. I blacked out. I'm okay.''

I grab her and pull her towards me, my arms around her body. ''Don't scare me like that again, I almost had a heart attack.''

''Harry,'' she whispers in my ear, softly and my eyes fill up with tears. Wow I thought only girls were emotional wrecks.

''The dolphin helped me, she knew what had happened.''

The guide kneels down beside us, ''Yeah. It was probably a mother instinct.''

I look over at the dolphin, who's still waiting by the edge, making noises. I carry Tibby over to her and let her pat her and thank her. The dolphin makes more noises and then swims away, seeming happy that she's okay.

Tibby closes her eyes and leans her head against my chest. ''Let's get you home.''

''I think you should rest, Tibby.'' Mum says, as she comes into the kitchen. Tibby shakes her head, ''No, I want to go skiing. I'm okay, I promise.'' Tibby sends her a look which I don't quite get but Mum nods, relenting.

''Okay. But you have to eat a big breakfast, okay?''

Tibby nods and smiles, ''Of course.''

Mum brings out a few bags from shopping and shows Tibby some new clothes of hers, which they bought.
