Cake By the Ocean

"It'll be alright, I promise." Tyler said kissing Josh softly.

Josh smiled against the kiss and wove his hand with Tyler's. He always liked to be touching the brunette in some way. Others would call it clingy, but Tyler knew it made him feel safe.

"D-do you wanna be there with me?" Josh asked nervously. Tyler was surprised as it seemed like this was something personal to Josh.

"Do you want me there?" Tyler asked and Josh nodded slowly.

"Yeah I think it'd make me less nervous." Josh admitted and Tyler smiled at him.

"Then I'll be there for you. Anything for you." Tyler kissed his cheek and Josh blushed.

A beeping went off in the kitchen signaling the cake was done.

"That's the timer. Come on." Tyler said tugging on Josh's hand gently and walking into the kitchen.

"C'mon can't I have some now?" Josh whined trying to pick at the yellow fluffy cake on the cooling rack.

"It's almost ready to put icing on it, just be patient." Tyler said lightly smacking Josh's hand. The fading pink hue sighed and twirled around on the seat waiting. Tyler sighed.

"Fine we can put icing on it now just cause it's your birthday." Tyler gave in and Josh squealed happily grabbing the container and opening it. He stopped.

"What do I do?" Josh asked suddenly realizing he wasn't quite sure.

"Here ya goof." Tyler said picking a butter knife up and dipping it into the thick white icing before slowly dragging it across the cake. "Just like this okay?"

Josh took the knife in Tyler's hand and giggled while icing the cake.

"See there you go, it's not hard at all." Tyler smiled and watched his boyfriend have fun with the most simple of task. After they got done icing it, Tyler pulled out decorations.

"Okay which one? Sprinkles, sugar glitter, or icing roses?" Tyler asked and Josh scanned his eyes over the sugary decorations.

"Can I have all?" Josh asked and Tyler laughed.

"Course you can." Tyler smiled and they began decorating the cake together. Josh almost poured all the sprinkles on the cake but with a little help from Tyler he got the hang of it.

"Oooo that looks good." Brendon said appearing in the kitchen when the cake was done.

"No touching not yet." Josh said sticking his tongue out at him. "Tyler promised a picnic."

"I did." Tyler said and moved the cake to a holder, snapping the lid on it. "But it's kinda his birthday present so you guys can join."

"Yes! Cake!" Brendon said and high fived Mark who had joined him at the counter.

Tyler stretched a large blanket out on the beach and began placing the food out, the cake sitting in the middle.

"I've seen plenty of humans do this before but I wasn't sure what the point was. I do now though." Josh smiled and sat down beside Tyler. Mark and Brendon sat across from them. They all just talked while they ate, the sun becoming lower while they ate.

When the sun kissed the horizon and they skies were a shade of orange and lavender, they put candles in the cake and lit them.
Josh blushed and smiled as they sang happy birthday to him, blowing out the candles.

"Oh my god this is so good too." Josh said shoving the cake into his mouth and humming happily.

"Thanks we really worked hard on it." Tyler smiled and got lost in Josh's face as the boy had icing on the side of his mouth. The brunette leaned over and licked the icing off off the corner causing Josh to giggle.

"Ew that's so sweet." Brendon said with false irritation but smiled at them. Mark was turned and taking pictures of the ocean.

"Hey Mark you wanna take a picture of us?" Tyler asked and Mark looked up from his camera.

"Yeah sure. Go stand on the rocks though so I can get more sun." Mark said and Josh grabbed Tyler's hand as they ran to the rocks, Tyler holding onto Josh firmly so he wouldn't fall.

"Alright you two want to strike a pose or something?" Mark said holding the camera up. Brendon stood behind him and made funny faces making Josh laugh.
The pale pink haired boy lifted up his arms and made a funny face.

"You do it too Ty." Josh said and smiled. Tyler took his shirt off and slung it over his neck before striking the same funny pose.

Mark counted down and the click of a shutter was heard.

"Nice guys." Brendon said as they all crowded around the camera to see the photo.
