At their entrance the council members stand. At least some of them do. Tyler makes a mental note of who is disrespectful. Tyler escorts Shelby to the head of the table and remains standing. He waits until he has all the eyes of the council on him before he speaks.
"If you don't get your ass up you'll be spending time in the dungeons," Tyler finally spills out as the councilor remains seated, ignoring the fact that his king is standing.
The man smirks at Tyler as he slowly gets to his feet. That smirk disappears when the guards move up behind him ready to take him into custody. "What is the meaning of this?"
"Spreading slander about your king and queen is punishable by death. Breaking your oath of loyalty that you took just last night to your queen," Tyler smiles decidedly evil. "Well that makes you a race traitor."
The color drains from the councilor's face as he realizes the implications. The worst punishment that can be given is to race traitors and hasn't been used since before the last phase out with earth.
"I haven't done anything to warrant jail time, Majesty!" The man says looking around the room for support. He's met with silence from some, smirk's from others and outright guffaws by the rest.
"Oh, so you aren't behind the ridiculous claims that I didn't bed my bride last night?" Tyler seethes. Things of the bedroom should stay in the bedroom. He hates doing this to Shelby.
"You hate humans too much to bed one, sire," The councilor sticks to his claims.
Tyler looks at him like he's lost his mind. "You do know how many humans I've seduced in the last month alone? If I've done that to ones that I don't give a damn about then why the hell wouldn't I be with my wife? You are the dumbest ass of a councilor that has ever been given the position.
"The position of councilor is to help ME make decisions in regards to the elven people. That means that I can't have stupid people on the council. You are of this moment stripped of your title of councilor. You will be taken to the holding cells until such time as I can find the time to interrogate you about any other traitorous activities you might be doing." Tyler motions to the guards flanking the now gaping man and drag him from the room.
Tyler looks angrily around the room challenging anyone else to make such damning accusations. "Treren, report what you saw this morning." Tyler's voice is cold and hard.
"I knocked on his Majesty's door and when I didn't get a response I entered, thinking they must be tired. Finding them having bed fun I immediately turned and left. There was no doubt that our king was celebrating his marriage." Treren is red faced as he reports. He had seen more of his new queen than he had wanted to and he knows that if Tyler finds out that he might not live much longer.
"I then waited for him and he gave both of them pleasure twice more before he came out. Neither of them expecting company, they weren't dressed." He doesn't like the look Tyler has right now and is glad that he hadn't seen his queen when they first came out.
"Is there any here that doubt the report of the honorable councilman?" Tyler's voice dares anyone to deny it. "I did in fact bed my wife multiple times. There will be no divorce or deposing me from the throne. Anyone that wishes to depose me at this time better keep it to themselves because otherwise you will be labeled a race traitor as well. My dearest mother," Tyler's voice has nothing but contempt and sarcasm in it, "would have us all dead should she take the throne. You should remember the reason for me marrying my queen in the first place. I hope that you will think twice about trying to get rid of me. I will be doing interviews with each of you soon. Well, more along the lines of interrogations really. I will not tolerate traitors as my councilors."
Tyler motions for Shelby to either speak or for them to leave. Shelby steps forward and Tyler is surprised to note the martial glint in her eyes. She isn't happy.
"When I accepted the terms of marriage with Tyler, I was told there was no divorce."
"Only is if the marriage isn't consummated," Treren says in the silence that falls after her sentence.
"I see. Well the marriage was most definitely consummated." Shelby gets a wicked little smile as she turns to Tyler, "It was deliciously consummated several times." Tyler turns red at her words. He had tried to make it pleasant for her, but he always lost control before he could do what he wanted for her. That she liked it anyway pleases him very much.
"I didn't ask for this. I didn't want this. Your king, Tyler, had to beg me, you had to beg me and then he came to my house to beg me once more to become his bride. That the elves have no tact, I already knew. But I thought they at least had respect for their king. I was obviously wrong about that as well. You all should be kneeling and begging for his forgiveness. He did everything in his power to make it so that he saves your collective asses and this is the thanks he gets? I think he should abdicate and let you all try to save the elven people. Even if it does mean my family suffers too. You don't deserve him, and you sure as hell don't deserve me or my help." Shelby ends her tirade and sweeps from the room with Tyler gleefully walking at her side. He didn't marry a weak woman by any means.
"I didn't know you had it in you, Shelby." Tyler says after he finally manages to contain himself. They stop outside of their apartment.
Shelby turns to him, she hides how she feels, but her voice shows her uncertainty, "You aren't mad by what I said?"
Tyler cups her chin and lifts her eyes to his, "On the contrary, it was perfect. Would you really like it for me to abdicate?"
"Your place is here as king, Tyler. For you to abdicate would cause you identity problems. This is who you are. Without it you wouldn't be able to deal." Shelby says and pulls away from Tyler and enters the room.
Tyler stands stunned by her words and actions. She understood him so completely and she's only known him for a few days. Is he truly that transparent?
