A pin drop filled the room, it was actually happening again. The war that I had previously escaped years ago was at its' climax.

This may be it for some of us but it didn't matter. After all, what else did we have to live for anyway? We are all meant to die eventually, I guess that time has finally come.

The metal was pressing against my body and I felt all the sharp edges of the armor scraping against my skin. I stood in front of a window, glaring out towards earth while seeing my semi transparent reflection.

There was no sound, there was barely any light. It was just silence. Maybe there will be the occasional footsteps in the hall but there was nothing.

"Attention all units, the descention will begin shortly, recommended standby within the hangers"

Commander's voiced broke the pin, every passing second felt half a second shorter, the only moment that I wished time would slow.

"Hey" I heard a voice call from behind, my gaze didn't avert to see who it was but it didn't matter, I saw their reflection anyway.

"What do you want 2B?" My tone was stone cold, if she was here to start a fight I wasn't in the mood. She was dressed in a similar fashion; only difference was that her armor was outlined in white.

"I just wanted to apologize for what I said earlier" her voice croaked, was this a joke? Intrigued; I spun around to face a teary eyed 2B.

She wasn't wearing her blindfold so I got to see her face in full detail and it broke my heart to witness it. Same round face with a small nose and azure hues. It was the same face of a comrade that I had killed only a few months prior.

"This might be the last time we see eachother so I just wanted to tell you before I regret it"

I was taken aback, she retreated towards the flight hangers before I could reply and I was left there to comprehend what just happened.

It had been a couple of minutes before I decided to follow. The halls were empty, all the soldiers that roamed them were preparing for war and ultimately, their inevitable downfall.

The doors slid open to reveal rows upon rows of flight units with their perspective pilots. They all had looks of determination and their hands were placed across their chest in an act to salute.

A part of me couldn't help but feel that deep down in their cores. They were informed that this would be the final mission they'll be sent on.

I made it to my unit and on cue; the commander appeared in the door frame. She didn't say a word, rather, she just mimicked the salute before we entered our units.

Her back turned towards us and that was our signal that the descent was a go. Row by row, they were taking off into open space before it was my turn.

9S, please hang on a little longer, I'm on my way.

I repeated that phrase over and over as some sort of motivation before I took off. Our units took the appearance of meteors as we left a streak of flames in our wake when we broke the atmosphere.

But I knew better than that, the emptiness of space was the exact representation of what I was feeling at the moment. It was finally time and I couldn't wait, the ground grew close and the wind was whistling a tune when we broke the sound barrier.

The city came into view but something was......different. The occasional skyscrapers were in display but that wasn't the problem, there was also a massive spiral citadel that spiked out the ground that went passed the clouds.
