I woke up the next day feeling well rested, I rushed into the bathroom and did my regular morning routine, I wore my favorite sweater and some jeans with some moccasins.
The weather was starting to get a little colder since we were in the middle of November, so I now had an excuse to wear my sweaters.
I got a text from Mason, letting me know that he was here and I rushed down the stairs and out the door, He opened the car door for me once again and started driving.
"Are you nervous?" He asked whiles scanning me to see If I was okay.
"Kind of." I said awkwardly with a shrug.
"I figured you would be, just please let me know if someone says anything irrelevant or touches you and I will handle it, okay?"
"Okay." I said even though I knew I wouldn't tell him.
We got to the school minutes later and climbed out, since we had American government, we walked together to class.
As soon as I walked in everyone started staring at me as if they had just saw a ghost walk in.
"Ava! Nice for you to join us again." Mr. Rodriguez said with a big smile, I gave him a nod and sat in my seat quietly, making sure that my hair covered my face.
Class started and my anxiety was fully on, I felt people whispering and giving me dirty looks.
"Such a whore." Someone muttered under their breath.
"Who would do all that just for attention?" I heard someone else say, causing my breathing to get heavier and my hands began to shake uncontrollably.
A few minutes later, the bell rang and my mind was set on leaving as quick as I could, until I felt a tug on my arm.
"Are you okay?" He asked worriedly, I suddenly felt tears beginning to prick my eyes and I tried to hold it in but It immediately started pouring down my face.
Mason saw that and quickly pulled me into his arms, rubbing my back which made me cry even more.
"Shhh, it's okay." He whispered.
Since mostly everyone left no one really saw me and probably thought Mason and I were hugging each other or something.
I removed myself from his arms and wiped my face with the sleeves of my sweater.
"What happened?" He asked.
"Nothing, we have to go to class before the bell rings." I said trying to avoid the topic.
"Ava." Mason warned, firmly.
"It's nothing, I don't even know why I'm crying." I shrugged.
"Your lying, we're going to finish talking about this at lunch, I don't want you to be late to your next class, okay?" He said.
"Okay." I agreed.
He walked me to my next class and walked to his right after.
*
All my classes went by slowly and sadly the whispering and dirty looks continued throughout all of them.
I walked to the cafeteria since it's lunch time and sat at my usual table.
I saw Mason walked in and immediately spotted me, he walked over.
"Hey, what would you like to eat?" he asked.
"I'm not hungry." I said while trying to catch up on some of the work I missed.
"Ava you have to eat, you rarely eat." He complained.
