Character Development is the next big thing after plot development, Although it is the biggest thing in the whole story.

There is a reason for that, Characters make up the story.

Now, I am sure we have all read some good books and not so good books.

There could be countless reasons for that but one of the main ones is: Poor Character development.

There are many ways character development can go wrong. Such as:

No development, Quick development, Very, very, very slow development.

Chances are the the fall under these catergories.

No development: The character is rather static they don't change at all.

Which means they are the same in the end as they were they beginning.

This is usually a result of no real plot structure, as the writer is making it up as they go.

Rapid Development: The character changes way to fast.

Meaning: They are fully changed within the first couple of chapters.

This usually happens because they want two characters to become a "Thing" So they rush the plot, which leads to rushing character development.

Very, very, slow development: The character takes forever to develop.

This usually happens because the plot is very intricate. We as readers really just want to smack the character upside the head because they are either overly stupid or overly smart but won't tell anyone anything.

This is similar to No development expect this usually has a decent plot

Now that I covered that I think I will leave up to you to decide what's next
