At first glance, the town seemed quiet and nice, but then again it was 4am and no one was wandering around. It was actually still dark when he got there. My parents really hadn't thought through the whole time difference thing. From what I could see of the town, it had a nice variety of little stores, and a nice restaurant in the middle. It also had a little park, and a lake. Adam would like that.

Now, arriving, we were all tired, all we wanted to do was sleep, but waiting at the house was two truck loads of boxes and furniture that needed to be removed. Adam was too young to bring anything in except for small toys, like his bike or his piano. So, it was really just my parents and me.

The house was kind of ratty on the outside, the windows had shutters on them but the paint was cracking off, and there were vines climbing up the house at every angle. Yes, it was a very nice house, in a really convenient location, but there was much work to be placed into it.

When we pulled up the drive, my bother started bouncing in his seat. The little thing just couldn't control his excitement. Sentences came out of his mouth that were barely formed, and made no sense, it made all of us smile. Even mother had a tiny smile on her face. I mean how can you resist an over excited four year old?

The taxi cab stopped and Adam and I scrambled to get out of it. Once we were out, I scooped him up into my arms and ran towards the house, but before reaching the steps, ran the other way towards the back. The whole time he was giggling, and yelling silly things. I guess you could say I coddled my brother, but when there's nothing else in your life that you care that much about, it's bound to happen. As we made our way back to the front of the house, my parents were standing there in the typical "oh I just bought a new house" pose. You know the one where they both have their arms around each other's waist, and they're looking admirably towards the house? It was that one.

I walked Adam over, and placed him down on the ground. "I guess it's not too bad. Theres plenty of room in the back, and a swing set for Adam to play on. Even has a tire swing tied to a tree." My parents both smiled, and for the first time it actually felt like it was sincere. It actually looked like they were joyed to be here. Before I could squeeze in another word, my mothers arms found there way around me, and pulled me into her. My mother hadn't even looked at me in the first couple weeks following my sisters death, and god for bid touch me. This was the first time in a year I had actually gotten a hug from her. I hugged her and patted her back before letting go. "We have unpacking to do." I said with a smile. My father laughed and put a hand on my shoulder before pushing me towards the truck.

When the back door of the truck finally opened, ( after being jammed for a couple minutes), I was relieved to see it was the truck that had the beds, and the cabinets. My father and me had made a bet that if I picked the bed truck, that we would leave the other one for tomorrow when we were all rejuvenated. Lucky for me, I'm a good guesser. I went in first, shuffling things around and passing then down to my parents on the ground. Adam ran around the yard happily. There wasn't much he could do so we didn't stop him.

"I'm going to need help lifting this dresser." As soon as I said it, my dad climbed in, and helped me roll it out of the truck. Unpacking isn't easy, but when you're that desperate to get your bed made, and settled out, you try to do it as fast as possible.

In the time of two hours, the truck had been unpacked, and brought in to the house. The inside was slightly furnished. It had a dining room table, an oven, all the couches from the living room remained, but they looked like they hadn't been used in ages. All the appliances that remained would be trashed, and replaced with new ones. And the walls, they would definitely have to be repainted. All in all the house needed to look less 1960's.

My parents assigned us both a room, mine was slightly larger than Adams, but not by much. I found that slightly unfair, since I was 18 and he was 4. But the room was nice, it had a walk in closet, and plenty of space for my bed, dresser, and tv to go. It had two windows, once facing towards the woods, and one facing the street. The convenience of the room sky rocketed when I noticed the balcony under the window that faced the woods. It would come in handy if I actually made friends and they wanted to hang out.

It took us about an hour on our own to set up our rooms. I was in charge of setting up Adams, so for me it took a little longer. By the time Adam and I finished setting up his train station, and racecar bed, our parents were sound asleep. Adam climbed into his bed, as I drew the blinds for him. "Get a good nights sleep okay bud? We've got a lot of work to do tomorrow." Technically today, since it was already 7am, but we desperately needed naps. He nodded his head before cuddling in, his favourite bear pressed up against his chest. I tucked him in and kissed his head before exiting the room. It wasn't turning bad yet, so I tried to keep a good image in my head.

I settled into bed, and threw the covers over my head. It was light now, and taking naps in daytime was always a struggle. I closed my eyes, and tried to get the best sleep I could.
