10:44 the clock read. I had been asleep for 3 hours and 44 minutes. The light was shining brighter than it was when I first got into bed. I sighed and sat up in bed, ruffling my hair. My room looked terrible, boxes full of clothes and accessories were strewn everywhere. The only thing that could be made out as furniture was my dress and the bed, and not even the bed was fully done. I slept just on the mattress the night before.

I remembered little from when we moved into the old house. I just knew it was a mess. My mother freaked out about the littlest things, like the amount of pillow we had. And my father always ended up breaking something from being clumsy. I liked that element of him. His clumsiness made him that much more funnier.

I climb out of bed, and kicked a box out of the way. It slid over to the closet. "Must be a sign." I mumbled to myself, before walking out. The house was dead silent. I peeked my head into my brothers room. He was curled up in bed, the covers thrown all over the bed, but that teddy bear was still buried in his chest. I smiled to myself, before walking downstairs.

When I entered the kitchen, my dad was sitting there a cup of coffee in his hands. His espresso shots were scattered on the table. "Good morning." I said, as I took a seat at the opposite end of the table. His head lifted from his prior position to look at me. "Good morning, sweetie. How did you sleep?" I looked around the kitchen at how empty it was. "Terribly. How about you?" I smiled at him, and he returned it. "Didn't get a minute of shut eye, I'm a machine running on espresso." I laughed before getting up. I opened the cabinets, looking for a rummage of food that might have been left from the trip up. I only found a half eater box of strawberry banana teddy grams. They were my brothers favourite. "We need to go shopping." He got up, and placed his coffee cup in the sink, and leaned against the counter. "Do you want to go get dressed quickly and we can make a quick run. Surprise your mother when she wakes up." I nodded my head. "I'll go get ready."

I walked upstairs, and opened up the first box I found. It was desk items. I sighed and opened up another. Jeans. I pulled out my favourite pair of light blue ones. They had holes in both the knees, and a run in the thigh. I slipped into them, and then opened another box. Sweatshirts. I opened the one that was labeled "Property of Miami University." It was grey, and particularly large on me. I slipped it over my head, and then looked in the mirror. "Fine for just the store." I threw a beanie on my head to cover up my tangled short hair, and then walked downstairs. I slipped into a pair of boots at the end of the stairs, and waited for my dad to come down.

Dad walked down two minutes later, the back of his pants bulged with his wallet and phone. "Ready?" He said as he grabbed his keys from the table in the main hall. I nodded my head, and walked out of the door.

I climbed into the car, and closed the door behind me. We pulled out of the driveway, and started our way into town. Our house was about ten minutes from the town itself, so it wasn't a very long way, and not a long trek either. I placed my feet up on the dash, tapping them along to the rhythm of the song that was playing. It was "Dirty Deeds" By AC/DC.

We arrived in town, and my dad finally spoke up. "Did you see the store on our way in?" I looked over at him. "No I didn't, we only went down the main road, but I did see a chill restaurant we'll have to try out." He laughed, and turned onto a road that we hadn't been on. We saw a convenient store at the end of the road, and we stopped. I hopped out of the car to see if there was food. I have him a thumbs up, and he pulled away to look for a place to park.

I walked into the store, and only saw one person. The clerk. "Good morning!" She called out from behind the desk. "Do you need help with anything." I shook my head. "No, thank you though." I walked away from the door and started skimming the isles. All the food in the place was a knock of brand, and looked shitty as hell. The store itself looked like no one had been in it for ages. I sighed and picked up a box of cereal. They were supposed to be fruit loops but they were renamed "Colourful loops". I laughed to myself, probably harder than I should have. I stood there looking at all the knock off brand names, laughing. I noticed a guy standing at the other end of the isle, and tried to control my laughter. I picked up a box of rice chex and made my way out of the isle.

My dad was standing in there when I went. "Dad, you have got to see the names of the cereal, they're all knock offs and oh my god." My dad looked at me, and smiled. "The little things that amuse you." I smiled. "Okay you take the first six isles I'll take the other six, we'll get done faster."

I walked away, and without paying attention when I turned the corner, bumped into someone. I dropped my two boxes of cereal on the ground, and looked up. "I'm sorry about that. I wasn't looking where I was going, I'm sorry." I picked up both of the boxes, and tried I make a speedy escape. "Hey, it's okay. Not your fault, shouldn't have been standing right in the middle of the isle." I looked back at him.

That was the first time I got a good glance at him. The first time I met the guy that would make my life here questionable. I shook my head. "Thanks for taking the blame." I smiled, and walked away.

My dad and I finished the shopping fairly quickly, and the check out was an ease not like at out old house. When we reentered the car, the clock read 12. "We we're only in there for like forty minutes." I put my bags on the backseat, and then buckled myself in. "It was a convenient store. Of course we were only in there forty minutes." He started up the car, and we drove home.

When we got there we saw the shadow of my mother in the window. We picked up all the bags, and lugged them inside. We were surprised to see that there were a few more boxes in the house hen when we left. My mother walked into the kitchen and immediately started putting things away. "Thank you guys." She said.

By the time 4 o'clock rolled around most of the house was unpacked. All the dishes were put away, and the living room was completely set up. The only thing that was left to be down was the last of the room. I had been going all day so I promised my parents that I would finish my room tomorrow. "Do you guys mind if I take Adam down into town? I need to pick up a few things I forgot this morning, and I think it would be fun to take him to the park after a long day of work." My parents both smiled. "Sure you can. Just be careful. We don't know anything about this town yet."

I ran upstairs and explained to Adam that we were going to the park in town. He practically ran downstairs and out the door in excitement. I grabbed the keys said goodbye to my parents, and headed out to two for the second time that day.
