Thunder cracked in the sky above Derry, Maine, graphite gray clouds rolling angrily for a seemingly endless stretch. You wrapped your purple windbreaker around you tighter, racing to your bike, hoping to beat out the oncoming rain. You were meant to go visit your best friend, Eddie, at his house, and you were already late. Figures, considering now you would probably be late and drenched.

You pedaled quickly down the street, trying to ignore how short of breath you got from exerting so much energy. About five minutes later, you arrived in the Kaspbrak's front yard, just as the first droplets fell like tiny, frigid fingertips ghosting your skin. You let yourself in, saying a quick hello to Mrs. K, before heading upstairs to Eddie's room.

"Hey, Eds! Sorry I'm late, but I'm here now," you called out, shedding your windbreaker as you walked down the hallway. The house remained silent, save from the television downstairs. Eddie didn't answer you, and you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion.

"Eddie?" you asked, as you reached his room. The door was closed tightly, and you considered not opening it in case he felt it was an invasion of privacy. Deciding that was stupid because he was the one who invited you over, you pushed the door open.

"Sorry if you didn't want me to open the door-" you started, but cut yourself off with a gasp once you got sight of the room. Eddie was on the floor, choking and gasping for air, weakly trying to reach for his inhaler, that was just a bit too far from him.

"What the- Eddie!" you shrieked, immediately grabbing the inhaler and rushing to your best friend's side. Eddie looked at you with wide, tearful eyes, the fear evident in them nearly heart-stopping. Being a person who is quick on their feet, you helped him with the inhaler, pressing the button and watching as he slowly regained his ability to breathe.

Once his breathing returned to normal, you pulled him into a bone-crushing hug, shoulders slightly shaking.

"Eddie, what happened? Are you okay?" you asked, once you let him go.

"I-I was waiting for you to come and that f-fucking clown showed up in my room... I-I guess I just wasn't ready for it, and it gave me an asthma attack. I'm better, now that you're here," Eddie reassured you, trying to muster up a smile.

"Oh my god, that thing was just  in here? I was so worried about you, I-I don't know what I would've done if anything happened to you," you confessed, looking at the brunette boy in front of you with pure affection in your eyes. Before you even knew what was happening, Eddie had grabbed your face, placing a shy, yet passion kiss on your lips.

You smiled into the kiss, bringing your hands up to his hair, trying to reassure him that he did the right thing in kissing you. After a minute, you both pulled away, grinning ear to ear, the previous thing quickly forgotten.

"Um, (y/n), would you maybe wanna, uh, be my girlfriend?" Eddie asked, blushing as he looked down.

"yes, you dork, why do you think I kissed you back?" you asked, both of you laughing.
