The following evening, the residents of Anubis House gathered together to bid a tearful farewell to Trudy. The five who had witnessed Victor's abrupt firing of her were still reeling from the shock of the unexpected loss of their housemother. Camilla stood on the bottom step, waiting for Trudy to finish handing Victor her keys, her hand discreetly wiping away the tears that had fallen. The usual hum of casual chatter among the house members had faded, replaced by an uneasy silence. Fabian was the first to break it, noticing Trudy exit the living room, her pink jacket already draped around her shoulders.

"Trudy," Fabian began, his voice wavering, "w-we're really sorry." From the tremor in his tone, Camilla could tell that her brother was just as upset as the others—yet, like the rest of the boys (and everyone except Amber and herself), he wasn't shedding any tears over the situation.

"We didn't mean to get you into trouble," Nina added, her voice apologetic as she stood beside Camilla. "Honestly, we didn't."

"I know," Trudy replied quietly, her eyes scanning the room as she tried to recall the face of each person there. "It's my own fault for believing your silly stories." She gave a small, rueful shake of her head as she walked past Fabian, heading for the door. She paused when Mara gently placed a hand on her arm.

"We're going to miss you," Mara said, her voice thick with emotion.

Trudy struggled to hold back her own tears, clearly trying to appear strong for everyone. She met Mara's gaze, her voice breaking slightly as she spoke. "And I'm going to miss you too." Her eyes moved slowly around the room, taking in the tearful faces of Amber and Camilla, who held each other tightly, the stoic expressions of Mick and Jerome, who were clearly putting on a brave front, and the others. "All of you."

Victor then entered the room, his eyes scanning the faces of the house's occupants before focusing on Trudy. "Your taxi has arrived," he announced flatly, his voice devoid of any emotion.

Before Trudy could leave, Amber sprang to her feet, moving quickly to wrap her arms around Trudy in a tight embrace. She held her for a moment before pulling away, allowing Camilla to take her turn.

"I'll do everything possible to bring you back," Camilla whispered softly, her voice thick with emotion. "This place will never feel like home without you."

Trudy let out a quiet laugh, though it was mingled with sobs. She gently pulled away from Camilla, placing a hand on her cheek to wipe away a stray tear. "You don't always need me, Cammie, to create a home," she said, her voice tender but firm. "You can do that on your own. But I truly appreciate your effort."

Before Camilla could respond, a loud cough from Victor interrupted the moment, drawing everyone's attention to the man, who was now clearly growing impatient.

"How can you do this?" Amber asked, her voice trembling with anger and sadness. She reached for Camilla's hand once again, seeking comfort as Trudy moved toward the door. "Trudy hasn't done anything wrong."

Victor ignored Amber's outburst entirely, his expression cold and indifferent. "Goodbye, Trudy," was all he said, his tone final and dismissive.

An upset Trudy hurried out of Anubis House, and Victor swiftly closed the door behind her. He then walked past the distressed students, offering no words of comfort, and continued on with whatever business he had in the house, leaving the group of teenagers in stunned silence.
