When Camilla joked that the 'special date' was prom night, she hadn't meant it seriously. Yet, of course, it turned out to be precisely that—the very night of the prom. The moment the thought crossed her mind, she inwardly cursed herself for tossing it out as a casual quip, now forced to endure the irony as if the universe had a wicked sense of humour. Beyond the usual stress of Prom—particularly since she was still living with Amber—the looming threat of Rufus and the teachers scheming to assemble the cup weighed heavily on her. Honestly, Camilla had no idea how she was supposed to manage all that in heels.

Later, during study hall, after Fabian had shown her the star alignments of Isis and Osiris, Camilla confided her anxieties. Watching her, Fabian couldn't help but burst out laughing—not at the danger or the stakes, but at how genuinely concerned she was about the heels. Of all things! One of the many reasons he adored his sister was because, despite everything they were up against, the thing that troubled her most was navigating a perilous evening in precarious footwear.

Fabian dabbed at his eyes, stifling his laughter, while the twins paid no mind to the curious and sometimes surprised glances from their classmates. Camilla retaliated by hurling a pillow at Fabian, fully aware that her twin brother was thoroughly entertained by her heel-related worries—just as an irate Amber stormed into the room, phone pressed to her ear.

"I don't care! I paid for next day delivery, and it hasn't bloody arrived! If you ruin my prom, I swear I'll... Okay, I'll hold." Amber's glare swept across the Sibuna group, full of frustration, before she settled down to wait for the person on the other end of the call.

"Okay," Nina spoke up as the twins finally ceased their antics, "I'm just worried about keeping the puzzle pieces safe until after the chosen hour."

"I know..." Fabian nodded solemnly, rising and extending his hand to Camilla. Together, they manoeuvred around the couch to form a small Sibuna huddle. "It's fine carrying them around with us, but what if the teachers organise another bag search or something?"

"We all know how Victor loves those," Camilla sighed, rubbing at her collarbone through the fabric of her shirt.

Patricia's eyes suddenly lit up as if struck by a bright idea. "Leave that with me," she said with a sly smile. "I've got an idea."

"What is it?" Nina asked softly, but Patricia glanced deliberately behind Nina and refused to answer.

"I'll tell you later, okay?" Patricia replied stiffly, prompting a chorus of curious glances as Jerome entered the room.

"Tell her what?" Jerome demanded.

"The fewer people that know, the better," Patricia shot back, folding her arms and narrowing her eyes at him. Her tone was icy, clearly still harbouring resentment over his earlier snooping, despite the valuable information he had provided about the time and day. "Loose lips," she warned sharply.

"I have told you," Jerome retorted, wagging a finger at Patricia, "I am going nowhere near Rufus ever again." The moment his phone buzzed in his pocket, it was clear to the Sibuna group who was messaging him. "Speak of the devil," Jerome hissed, glancing at the caller ID. "Literally, I'm surprised my phone didn't burst into flames."

"What's he saying?" Alfie asked, standing beside Jerome.

Jerome read the message, his face draining of colour. "It's not repeatable," he muttered, slipping the phone back into his pocket.
