What just happened? Is this really happening? He's driving his own counter part insane instead of the other! The monster grinned. God, this couldn't be true. There was no way his innocent side just said he needed him. He even got him to start hurting himself all over again. The yellowed eyed man looked at his counter part from afar. Seeing the amount of blood on the floor and walls was too much. He laughed out loud, gripping his sides and using the wall as a support. It's only been a few months of staying quiet. He didn't think Flippy would have cared. But damn, this was perfect. He wondered what would happen if he just kept quiet a little longer. Would he go off the deep end? Fliqpy couldn't wait.
Splendid felt his stomach drop later when he woke in the morning. He had no idea why he feeling so ill. Surely he didn't catch a cold. He shrugged it off, taking a step into his own shower. It was kind of the town to rebuild his home and do it so quickly. Though, these people were still odd as all hell.
The hot water didn't sooth Splendid this time. The rock still sat in his stomach, even after going through his checklist mentally. Was he forgetting something? All he had to do today was talk to Sniffles and then visit Flippy. The blue haired man ran his hand through his mainly dried hair. He decided to cross off talking to Sniffles for a while after a debate with himself during his breakfast.
Instead, he went to town, wanting to find something that would make Flippy happy. Maybe a new book. Splendid had noticed the large amount of books Flippy had during his visits. He took his time strolling through the city, slowly walking through all the book stores. He wanted to find the right book. It took him a good few hours before he found something Flippy might like. It appeared to be a typical love triangle plot but Splendid figured Flippy would find something good out of it.
Once he had paid for it, he stopped by the little cafe they both met at. Flaky took his order to go and waved shyly goodbye as Splendid thanked her. He took the longer route to Flippy's; careful to balance the cups. He didn't want to spill them as he walked to the home outside of the small city. Yet, he still couldn't shake the feeling something was wrong.
He knocked on Flippy's door while holding the cups in one hand. There was no answer. Splendid bit his lip as he pounded on the door. He took a hold of the knob and realized that the door was unlocked. That was never a good sign. He pushed the door open and ran into the home. Everything was quiet. He looked around, his heart beginning to race. Without thought, he ran up the stairs, two by two. He went straight to Flippy's room.
The bathroom door was slightly opened. Splendid's felt sicker than this morning. He approached the door carefully and slowly pushed it open. The hero's eyes widen as he dropped the cups and book. Flippy was flat on his face, covered in blood. The mirror was shattered and blood was splattered all over the walls. Some of the tile around the mirror were cracked. Bloody hand prints covered the floor tiles. It looked a horror scene with all the blood.
The blue haired man suppressed the urge to vomit. He rushed to Flippy, picking up his head. "Flippy!?" he hissed loudly. In Flippy's right hand was a bloody shard of mirror. Splendid looked at the veteran's arms. They were mutilated to say the least. Splendid shook violently as he pressed his fingers against the younger man's neck.
There was a pulse, but barely. Splendid took his own jacket and tore it apart, creating make shift bandages. How useful they were at this point... He still had to try. He wrapped the pieces of cloth tightly around the other's arms and carefully picked him up. The shard of mirror feel to the floor, making a small wet sound as it landed in the pool of blood.
Splendid held the small man closely to him as he rushed out of the house and into town. Flippy was slowly coming too and was gripping weakly onto Splendid's shirt. The hero clung to Flippy as he busted the hospital's doors open. Someone was about to yell at him when Splendid showed him Flippy.
Suddenly, everything was a blur. All kinds of doctors and nurses rushed around them, taking Flippy away from Splendid. They pushed him away as they ran down the hall. Splendid tried to keep up, but they were gone behind closed doors. The blue haired man sat in an empty waiting room. He kept his head down; his thoughts swirling around in his head.
I shouldn't have left him alone. I knew something was wrong. Why did I leave him? Did I do this? This is all my fault. I knew something was bad and I didn't do anything to prevent it. I should've listened to my instincts. Is he going to be okay? I fucked everything up. I should've pressed on. I should've been there for him.
Splendid sat there, quietly letting his tears drip down his face. This was all his fault. A voice deep within in his mind kept reminding him. Laughing at him. Mocking him. Splendid tried to drown the voice out, but it was persistent. It wouldn't leave him alone, no matter what Splendid did. It stayed there, laughing and reminding of all the things he could've done to help his friend. It was relentless.
Hours dragged on. No one said anything to Splendid. No one even knew he was there. The staff was so used to people just dragging the veteran to them and then leaving without a second thought. A nurse with pink hair and a bow stopped in front of the hero. She had noted his presence and thought he was there for someone else. "Sir, who are you waiting for?" she asked, sitting next to him. Splendid flinched, looking up at the woman. "Ah... I'm here for Flippy. I brought him here a while ago but no one has said anything to me..." he admitted, sitting up. He wiped his eyes. The nurse, taken aback at his words, handed him a tissue. "Are you sure you're here for Flippy?" she asked.
Splendid tilted his head. "Of course I am. He's my friend," he said, using the tissue to wipe his eyes. The nurse didn't say anything for a moment. "I... didn't realize he had a friend. Normally people just drag him here and leave. People don't really associate with him," she said, setting her clipboard down. Splendid nodded slowly, letting his eyes drift to the floor. "So I noticed..."
She got up quickly with a smile. "Come; I'm sure you're worried about him. He's resting right now in the psych ward," she said, holding her hand out to Splendid. He took it and she pulled him up. She walked quickly down the hall. "He's restrained right now. He's considered a danger to himself but not others... which is fairly unusual for him. Normally he's after everyone else; but he's just screaming about how he can't hear the voice in his head. He might be transferred to the other hospital if we can't get him to calm down," she explained as they walked. She swiped her card.
Splendid stayed silent as he listened to her. She stood in front of a door. "He's in there. Just be careful okay? If you need help, just ask for Giggles," she said with a warm smile. She patted his back before she walked off. Splendid stood there, listening to the voice in his head tell him to just leave. Splendid took a deep breath before making his move.
