Marcos sat up front with John driving.Karlee was sandwiched between Sage and Pulse, as much as she wanted to be made at him for what he said she couldn't, she leaned into him resting her head on his shoulder finding comfort in the warmth of her best friend.I thought you were pissed off at me he whispered, she lifted her head slightly to look at him shaking her head she mouthed the word "never" before placing her back in her spot.
It wasn't long after the engine stopped and John pulled up into an alley just behind the relocation facility.Pulse helped Karlee out of the car, glad that the none existent wounds had been mended.
The trio stood at the fence, keeping guard while they waited for the single. Karlee coughed as the one of the fly swarm had found its way down her throat. she silently heaved not wanting to alert unwanted attention from Sential guards, John patted her back trying to help her." well now I can say I swallowed a fly and survived "John looked at the girl grinning at her dramatics and shook his head in disbelief "What I'm sure those things are deadly" she huffed.Just as she said it pulse hit a fly that landed on his face,"You alright?" Karlee mused."You know back in the corps, I use to think the cold was the worst part, but I got to say, these bugs might change my mind" Karlee nodded in agreeance,"You know, what we need? a mutant the keeps bugs away"
"well, that's as useless as shooting fireworks from your hand?" Karlee muttered to herself.
"Or a can of bug Spray" John joked causing Karlee and Pulse to chuckle.
"You should have sent me in first. I could have knocked out the power, everything." Karlee noticed the frustration growing on Pulse's face, it wasn't a look she enjoyed.
"I could have helped, I could have absorbed the voltage or fried the circuit," She said noticing the same flaw pulse saw.
"Yeah," Karlee noticed the sarcasm in his voice and knew whatever he said next wouldn't agree with them."And then, they would know have known we were here immediately. Plus you don't even know how much electricity you can take, Karlee." she sighed knowing he was right, as of late he always seemed to be."Look we stick to the plan" he said.
"So we'll just stand here and wait?" she sighed
"yes until they get to the second gate and send the signal after that we'll get in there."John looked at both of them to confirm the got it. "Alright," Karlee said accepting that was the only way it was going to be.She gazed over at Pulse who still seemed discontent with the plan, his hands were shaking and he was pushing his foot down so harsh that the dirt under the fence was caving in.Pulse sighed, not meeting either of his friend's eye he began to speak "it pisses me off they call it a mutant relocation facility like it's some nice place to pass the time?" , it wasn't until he turned to face John and her that she certain he was aware of his audience.Karlee stepped forward and placed her hand in his a gesture he had always done for her on the sleepless nights she crept around the house in the middle of the night haunted with by thoughts of the boarding school. He smiled, that Augustus grin that she loved so much, her reassuring her he was fine.
"I just wish.. "he sighed, running his long fingers through his blonde locks desperately searching for the words to express his emotions
"we're going to save them Pulse" she smiled lifting her head up to face John.
"She's right you know. Hey, we got you out there. We're gonna get them out there too, all right?" John said shoving Pulse on the shoulder.Oorah Pulse said, to be honest, Karlee had no clue what was just said and put in down to boy speak,"Oorah" she chimed in not wanting to be excluded."Oorah" is right John said, still eyeing Pulse to see was fine.
