"Then you kissed me - I felt
hot wax on my forehead.
I wanted it to leave a mark:
that's how I knew I loved you.
Because I wanted to be burned, stamped
to have something in the end-"
Karlee Strucker had a gift for running she blamed it on the electr...
Karlee and Sam were sat in the garden. At first glance the place could be mistaken for a scrap heap,it was filled with abandoned materials-barb wire clippings, spare tires and other miscellaneous goods. But at dusk it was so much more, the pale moonlight reflect off the metal scraps.Turning them to beams of warm copper, rustic gold and silver.
Karlee was convinced the air of dusk, did something magical to the world. It had the power to be warm yet cool without a strong breeze or that sticky sensation.Sam fingers twiddled with the ends of her hair as the girl gazed at the purple haze in the sky, looping the blonde strands round his fingers then letting it drop.He repeated the the action absentmindedly, but Karlee didn't mind it was somewhat relaxing.
"So this is the place you hid out after that whole school drama."
"mmmhhm"Karlee hummed still focusing on the on the deep purple sky lined with cotton candy clouds.
"Cool, cool."
The silence consumed the two, to Karlee it felt blissful like the nights spent in Sarah's new York apartment. However Sam was anything but blissful right now, there was weight pressing hard on his chest."Karlee can I confess something"
"Sam I have a feeling even if i said no you'd still go ahead." Karlee joked.
Sam let out the breath he had sucked in, he thought it would help with the mounting pressure. It didn't.
"Sorry Sammy, go on tell me whats up" The girl pulled herself up so she could look a her friend head on.She grabbed hold off his fiddling hands, even clasped between Karlee's soft palms sam's hands found a way to itch around."Your really nervous huh?" Karlee asked.
"It's me Sam what's up" Karlee tried to calm Sam down. That was the problem it was Karlee.
"I heard you guys yesterday.Talking about going up against sentinel services I know I should' t have been listening in but I couldn't help it.I-I don't want you to do it Karlee. It's too much of a risk"
"O"was all Karlee could manage to say, she may have managed to get John in on the plan but she hadn't even stopped to thing about Sam.In a way she'd just hoped she could leave him the house with a bowl of water and food."You weren't meant to hear that."
"You weren't going to tell me were you.You were going to keep me in the dark just like Sarah& Belle use to. I thought you were different," Sam yanked his hands out of Karlee's so quickly she could even try to regain her clasp.
She awkwardly placed her hands on her lap in shame."Sam it's not like that, I didn't have time to think about it"
"I Know that girl's your friend but you don't have to risk your life"
"Wow Sam you really don't get it do you? That girl risked her life for me more times than I can count."
"I'm sorry Kare, I just don't want to see you hurt."
"I know Sammy" Maybe this was the perfect time to get something off her own chest."It's not just about rescuing Lorna, that man that's with her that's my dad. Reed Strucker"
"The one that sent you away to that horrible school."
"He didn't really have much of a choice and lets not forget your dad sent Sara hto the same place."
"My dad would't have done that if he knew."
That's my point exactly, Karlee thought "My dad and me both did stuff wrong, I had every opportunity to go and see him and my family I didn't I just kept hiding." Karlee shuddered at the thought of all the years she missed of her siblings growing up.
"Wait does that mean, the Struckers your siblings. They're here?"
Karlee nodded shamefully
"You have to say something."
"What do I say? Hey you know that sister you haven't seen or heard from in years? Surprise It's me.Your probably wondering why I didn't say anything sooner but in all honesty I just didn't feel up to it.Hope you get your dad back bye."
"Okay, that could do with some work but it's still better than doing it on Jerry Springer."
The two laughed for a minute. Then Karlee pulled herself together she realized they hadn't sorted the problem at hand.
Looking into his eyes, Karlee asked for permission, which was odd for the girl. She was Karlee Strucker the independent girl who never let anyone get in her way. Sammeul Campbell made her thing even it were for a minute about the other people in her life because, he cared."So you understand why I need to do this, your 100% alright with it."
Sam bite his lip, he always did that while he thought. Her thoughts drifted to the nights back in New York on the Sarah's stupid designer couch, watching Sam struggle to choose between arrow or teen wolf. The same tight jaw and frustrated nibbling of the lip.For a minute Karlee was scared he'd say no. No Karlee you can't go it's to dangerous, I remember what happened last time what if this time the friend that's shot is you.
Maybe she wanted him to say no.
He didn't. A smile stretched across his face, not a massive one just a small token of assurance."Just be safe okay."
"Pinky promise" Karlee said knowing deep down she had no proper control over her safety.Instead of knotting fingers Sam's hand found the side of Karlee's face. With a gentle stroke Sam sent sparks flying across Karlee's skin. Karlee flinched at the touch but didn't pull away, her head lent into the touch.
Sam came closer, close enough to feel the warm gush of air as Karlee's breath quickened. Even though she hated to admitted she missed his touch.Or was it just human contact? He kissed across her jawline, to the corner of her lip till finally their lips met. Karlee smiled into the kiss, with a yearning she had only felt once.
The kiss deepened, warm and sweet like honey ice cream.Connected the two together intertwined with fear and the need to know each one would be safe.
They drew apart glassy lust filled eyes
"There was something else I wanted to confess"
"I have feelings for you Kare."Sam smiled lopsidedly.

Karlee winced, it was as if her skin had been doused in gasoline and set ablaze.
"Great." she didn't need this, yet another inconvince on her list. She had only come back here to hide out till she could get to mexico.
Well I guess Blink was right, Karlee groaned in aspiration.
