James and Lily: Just Another Love Story (Jily Fanfiction)

*James' POV

Before I know it, it's the last day of the holidays. In a way I'm glad. I finally have something to focus on other than my pathetic love life. But on the other hand - and there is no way to avoid it - I will see Lily. Whether it be on the platform or at the prefects' meeting or in our common room, I will see her, and it will be awkward. Very awkward.

"James! Sirius!" My Mum yells from downstairs.

"No! I'm sleeping." I yell back, pulling my duvet over my face.

"Yeah! I'm sleeping too!" Sirius yells from his bed across the room.

"Get up! We're leaving in one hour!"

"Then I have one hour to sleep!"

"JAMES!"

"Alright! I'm getting up!" I get out of bed, pull on the first piece of clothing I find and grab my wand. Then I walk over to Sirius. "Mate, are you going to get up?" I ask, poking him.

"No." He says and rolls over, but I still continue to poke him.

"You should probably get up or else my Mum's going to explode." I say, still poking him.

"Ugh. Quite poking me."

"Get up."

"No."

"Then I'm not going to stop poking you."

"Alright, alright." He says but her makes no attempt to move so I keep poking him. "I SAID ALRIGHT!" I stop poking him and walk down the stairs laughing. Five minutes later Sirius joins me.

"You boys need to hurry up if we're to get to the station on time." Mum says, hovering over us, waiting for us to finish breakfast.

"Nah, we've got plenty of time. It's only nine." I say.

"James, it takes us an hour to get to the station - never mind with traffic."

"Then let's apparate."

"You and I both know that you failed that test. Now come on! Let's go, let's go, let's go!" I put my plate by the sink, then Sirius and I grab our stuff and get in the car.

*Lily's POV

I am so nervous about going back to Hogwarts, mostly because I'm going to see James but on the plus side I can finally see Regulus. We kept owning each other throughout the rest of the holidays and I wasn't breaking the rules because I didn't see him, I saw his handwriting.

I'm ready to leave by nine but the rest of the Lupin's aren't so I sit on my bed and catch up on some reading. Eventually we leave and at five to eleven we arrive at Kings Cross, I quickly hop aboard the train. The train ride pretty much sucks. I'm forced to share a compartment with James because Myer wants ti be with Sirius and Jen wants to be with Remus. Alice soon leaves to go find Frank and I'm soon incredibly bored.

"James, we should go and prepare for the prefect meeting." I say, speaking to him for the first time today.

"Okay." He says as he gets up and walks out the door. Strange.

"Uh, I'll see you later then." I say to everyone else, confused as I walk towards the heads compartment. I get there and James is sat down reading a piece of paper.

"What's that?" I ask.

"Dumbledore wants us and the prefects to patrol the castle at night because of the attack on you on the last day of last term." He explains, handing me the paper.
