I heard the door open and Brian walked in.
"We're heading off now."
I looked at him, lucky him, Bree was being transferred to a hospital closer to home, I was staying here and so was Meg. It had been a week already.
"Well I'll see you when I get back." I told him.
"Yeah." He put his hand on my shoulder. "How long are you going stay Matt?"
"Til she wakes up, I'm not leaving." I couldn't leave her.
"Alright, well I'll keep in touch." I nodded and watched him walk out of the door, then turned my attention back to Ana.
She was starting to look pale and drawn, losing weight. The nurses came in a couple of times a day to exercise her arms and legs, so they didn't stiffen up and her muscles stayed toned.
I leant over and kissed her, nothing, no movement. I sat down and cried, I only ever cried when I was alone with her. So I sat there holding her hand and crying, god, if the guys could see me, they'd give me shit.
The door opened and my mom walked in.
"Come on, time to eat." She told me.
Mom and I had made a deal, I could sit with Ana as long as I wanted only if I slept and ate regularly.
I stood up and kissed her forehead. "Love you." I whispered.
I followed Mom outside, she had food so we went and sat in the park to eat. Dad had left a few days ago, so it was just us two.
"How long Matthew?" Mom said suddenly.
"How long what?" I asked.
"How long are you going to stay here, day in, day out." Was she serious.
"I've told you, until Ana wakes up."
"What if she doesn't." I can't believe her. "Your young Matt, only a boy, you need to consider going home, if something happens we can come back, but you need to get on with life."
I looked at her, and put down my food. "Mom, I'm not leaving, Ana is my life, so I'm not going anywhere until Ana comes with me."
I turned to walk away and she grabbed my arm.
"I'm sorry honey, I just worry about you and Ana, poor Ana."
"I know." I hugged her and headed back to the hospital. When I entered Ana's room there were 3 nurses and a Doctor in there.
"What's wrong?" I asked, terrified.
"One of the machines is malfunctioning, we're just changing it over." A nurse told me.
"Malfunctioned how?" I asked, sitting in my seat by Ana.
"Bleeping at nothing, it doesn't matter, all fixed." And I watched them all leave.
I sat there looking at her, she looked no different than when I'd left. I grabbed her hand. I can't believe my mother actually thought I would leave, there was no way I was leaving her, I was going to sit here until she woke up, even if it took twenty years.
