Carl Grimes's life was great. He had both parents, a ton of friends, and a great role model. His dad was a sheriff at the King's County Police Department, while his mom was a stay at home mother. His role model just so happened to be his dad's best...

Rick's POV
I watched as the young girl I've come to care for as a daughter broke down in front of me. Tears created a steady path down her tan, freckled face as she held her hands to heart and spilled every thought that had passed through her mind. Never had I seen so much pain and grief come from this child, who always smiled and helped lead with concern for everyone.
She told me the story of her mother and Daryl, why she was close to Daryl, why she trusted him. She told me how she felt when her mother died and how everything went down in the courthouse when Shane wasn't there. She told me how she felt beginning to end with living in Kings county with Shane. She told me how the kids treated her, how her and Carl were at odds, but slowly became friends, how she didn't want him to die. She told me about forgetting Daryl. She told me about everything that happened after my coma and the beginning of the end. She told me how she began to remember Daryl. She told me how she wished she knew who she was now. She told me that She's not her father's daughter...

"Breathe Shortcake. Please just breathe. Hershel!!" I shouted as I held Emily's unconscious body in my weak arms. After she had told me everything from start to end, her breathing quickened until she couldn't breathe at all and fainted. Luckily, I had caught her in time for her to not hit her head on the ground.
Hershel and Patricia burst into the room upon my pleads for help. "What happened?!" Hershel asked, urgently. I shook my head not knowing what to say.
"Sh-she was ranting to me about everything that's been happening. A-and she couldn't catch her breath. Sh-she fainted." I stuttered out as Hershel took Emily from my arms and laid her fully on the ground. He quickly took out his stethoscope and put it on on her chest, listening for a heartbeat.
"She has a heartbeat. It is slow though, like her breathing." He stated. Maggie stormed into the room and nearly cried when she saw Emily on the ground next to her father.
"What happened?! Daddy, is she okay?!" She cried, quickly squatting down and checking Emily for a fever and for a pulse. Hershel gently grabbed his daughter's hand and comforted her.
"It's okay. She is okay. Seems to me it was an anxiety attack. It's a normal thing for a situation like this. She's stressed and her best friend is shot. She's worried for his health. She'll be okay. Just need to get her to her own room. I don't think she needs to come back in here until your boy's awake, Rick." He explained, looking to me with sympathy in his eyes as he says the last part. I look down.
"That's going to effect her more. They're inseparable. If it's what's best, let's do it." I said, getting back into my feet. Maggie hugged Emily's body to herself as she stood up with her in her arms.
"I'll take care of her, Rick. You look after your boy. While I go get your wife, I'll have my sister, Beth look after her. I'm very fond of Emily. I won't let nothing happen to her. I promise." She said, looking up at me from Emily's now pale body. Maggie's green eyes shimmered a little before she turned back to the girl in her arms, her short brown hair falling back down keeping her face out of view.
"Thank you Maggie." I said, "I cannot begin to express my gratitude to you and your family."
She smiled a soft, sad smile before taking Emily into a different room. It was then I heard the screen door to the Greene's house slam shut and Shane's voice penetrate through the house, "What's wrong with my daughter?!"
I followed his voice and Hershel's into the living room where Shane's angered face was waiting for an explanation. Maggie ignored his presence and continued to take Emily upstairs. "Hey! You answer me right now! Where are you taking my daughter?!" He continued to yell.
Hershel stepped forward and spoke, "She is taking her upstairs to a guest bedroom. Emily had a little fallout, but it's nothing that can't be managed if you stay calm. She will be upstairs asleep until her body gives her time to wake up. It's best if you don't disturb her. From what I can tell, you two had a disagreement before she came to speak with Rick and fell out."
Shane stood shocked at what was just said, as did I. Out of everything Emily had said, she didn't say anything about a disagreement with Shane.
"Disagreement?" Shane paused, running a hand through his hair and down his face, "Man, she was upset. I didn't say a word to her. That ain't a disagreement."
"Alright. Fine." Shane said, walking away with a hand running through his hair.
I turned to Hershel.
"Then why are you two at odds right now?" Hershel remarked, "Besides, Emily is Maggie's concern right now. You're supposed to be preparing with Otis to leave and get supplies for Rick's son. He's running out of time as we speak."
"Alright. I've got my bags together. Tell Otis it's time to go." Shane said, walking away as he ran a hand through his hair.
Hershel turned to me, "She'll be fine. She just needs time and some space. She should wake up soon. No need for an IV. Just worry about your boy. Maggie is going to get Emily settled and then go get your wife."
"Thank you, Hershel. My gratitude is impossible to explain." I stated. He nodded and then walked away to tell Otis it's time. I walked back into the room that held my boy. He was still unconscious and pale white.
I just wanted to see his eyes that resembled mine. Maybe they could give me hope. The strength to get through this. Maybe give me an explanation as to what is going on. I know my son. As soon as he wakes up, he is going to question me on if we've found Emily and Sophia. He'd do anything to keep his best friend safe at all times. I can just imagine the disappointment in his eyes when I have to tell him that I don't know where she is at. Or Sophia. I really don't know where Sophia is. I hope that Daryl and Lori might of found her with the rest of the group on their way back to the highway.
My thoughts leave Sophia and move to Emily's words earlier about Daryl. Apparently, Daryl and Elizabeth, Emily's mother, were best friends throughout high school. Emily had said that after she was born, Daryl had been the one to help take care of her. He'd come over every weekend and spend time with her like a real father would. Elizabeth and Daryl were really close from what Emily had said. She said that all her childhood she had wanted Daryl to be her father. She said that Daryl was the one who got to her first when the news of her mother's death was told. She said Daryl was the one to get her to speak. Daryl was the one at the courthouse when it was decided who would have custody of Emily. Daryl fought for it, but his background wasn't what the judge was looking for. Since Elizabeth had put Shane's name on the birth certificate, Emily was placed with Shane. Emily said her last memory of Daryl before the outbreak was him fighting the policemen holding him back from saying goodbye to her. She didn't get the chance to say goodbye.
Part of me believes there was something more to the situation. Something that wasn't right with her story. She's holding more in than what she was willing to share. But what...??
Hey guys. I know. It's a shitty chapter. But hey I went brain dead and didn't want to just throw everything out there.
