Name: Kohaku Colombera
Name meaning: "Kohaku" - A Japanese unisex name meaning "amber".
"Colombera" - From the Italian word "Colomba" meaning "dove".
I really like his name and the explanation of it!Age: 17
Gender: Male
Nationality: Half-Italian and Half-Japanese
Sexuality: Pansexual Biromantic
Ultimate/SHSL: The Ultimate Gemologist
Really original talent, I've never seen something like that before!Personality: As a calm, cool-headed and collected male, Kohaku is a hard-working guy who tends to focus on one thing much too hard to the point where he sometimes forgets what year it is. He is sometimes a bit of an airhead and can be totally oblivious as to what the specific subject or matter that people are talking about or is happening.
Although Kohaku may seem cold to others at first, he actually respects everyone but just from a distance. He is very kind and will thoroughly explain to others about things they do not know. But, he can get a bit frustrated when his peace is disturbed.
Kohaku can be pushy and bossy sometimes without realising it, he tends to be old-fashioned with the way he talks and acts. His friends joke about how he's a sixty-year old man in a seventeen-year old boy's body. He is a fair-minded individual who sees no flaw in anyone except those who just want despair and pain.
When he has a passion for something, he becomes incredibly determined. Kohaku is very serious most of the time and takes any request that is handed to him, in a serious manner - even if the request makes him uncomfortable or confused, he will do his best to fulfil it.
He can be easily flustered or overwhelmed by things he is unfamiliar with, since he is the Ultimate Gemologist, he can withstand almost any question about jewels and such but anything else like swimming or boxing will throw Kohaku off-track.
Kohaku has trouble expressing his feelings to others, which usually results in him bottling them up and if work is assigned to him, he would usually overwork himself many times to fulfil it. Even though he has trouble, he still acts independent and determined to carry on.
The male tends to insult and throw around rude remarks, such as calling others names at times but not really meaning what he says, he scolds his friends often and just bluntly states things whether negative or positive.
I really love his personality, but his insulting and blunt side seems a bit out of place, especially considering his airheadedness. Otherwise, I think he's a really interesting character!Appearance: Kohaku has light purple hair that is quite long, falling down his shoulders to his mis-back but is usually tied into a ponytail with a black ribbon that has his name printed on it in kanji, leaving two long locks of his hair fringing his face. His skin is an ivory white colour, due to his lack of sunshine as a child since he was usually cooped up in his room.
He stands at shorter than average height, at around 5'4, but weighing at around 110 kilograms. Kohaku has bright amber eyes that are almond-shaped, his eye colour is literally what his name translates to, he has thin and naturally arched darker purple coloured eyebrows but long, black eyelashes.
The male has a thin and scrawny body structure, he isn't exactly a stick but its quite obvious that his eating disorders are very unhealthy for him. He has long legs despite his short height and smaller then average foot size. Kohaku can be usually seen with dark eye bags and sunken cheeks.
Kohaku has an almost barely noticeable Adam's Apple, he tends to slouch most of the time and his shoulder width is shorter too, though luckily - for him that is - since he is so skinny he's able to wear more fashionable clothes since he cares about his appearance a lot.
Kohaku's casual outfit would include the male wearing a stylish wool and cotton made coat that is more slimmer around his waist, that falls down slightly below his bottom. Beneath his coat is a thin but warm pastel yellow-coloured wool made sweater.
He wears a turquoise green scarf wrapped around his neck and the excess material is pulled down to his chest, resting below his covered navel. Kohaku wears a white belt with a black buckle, having crystals engraved into it.
The male wears a simple pair of light grey jeans that are fairly loose but not too loose on his legs, his shoes are simple but can be worn to formal events, a completely black pair of dress shoes that are worn casually.
He finishes the look off with a necklace around his neck over the scarf, but instead of a charm hanging off of the necklace it is his lucky loupe made especially for him by his father because of his craftsmanship.
I really like his character design! It's aesthetically pleasing and original!Backstory: Kohaku was born and raised in a traditional, modest family. He was actually raised in a Buddhist family, and yes - all of his family members except for his sister had shaved their heads. Kohaku, from an early age, thought that this was all very strange.
When he grew older to the still-young age of seven, Kohaku was getting bored of the Buddhist traditions; he began to study about English history and French history, thus that's how he became a bookworm. But, his parents, especially his father, did not approve of this at all.
After he had his books taken away, he would often go on long walks and collect rocks on the way to help himself calm down. And one day, he found a very interesting gem - apparently he had found a ruby. Fascinated by this gem, he began to secretly study about jewels, stones and gems.
When he was ten, he confessed about studying and researching about stones, jewels and gems. At first his parents felt a bit betrayed but they quickly recovered and said it was okay. Why? Because it wasn't related to tradition - well, kind of. Some gems, stones or jewels are related to religion.
Wanting to pursue his studying of jewellery, he moved to the big city where his childless aunt and uncle lived, they were overjoyed to have him staying with them. There, after four fruitful years of studying, he was the best in the entire city.
His skills were noticed by other well-known gemologists who began to compare their skills but whenever they would have a face-off, Kohaku would always win with his skills. Shortly after he had turned 15, his father sent him a gift. It was a loupe.
His father was actually a craftsman, he wasn't the best but certainly not the worst. Kohaku's father had many of his friends to help him create the loupe, that's why Kohaku treasures it so much and carries it around with him at all times.
Then, unfortunately, the school of Hope's Peak Academy recognised his achievements before accepting Kohaku into the school as the Ultimate Gemologist.
That's a really nice backstory, and I love the little bit about the loupe, it's so cute and heartwarming! I would like to have a bit of context to his eating disorders though, it's an important subject to bring up. Otherwise, I love his backstory!Extra Info:
- Kohaku's Father is Italian but he met his Mother and became Buddhist, learning Japanese.
- Kohaku knows how to speak Cantonese.
- He has a collection of rocks from finding them on beach shores.
- Is pretty good at sketching, having to sketch out drawings of the gem/stone/jewel.
- Kohaku is not fond of slimy creatures such as snails, toads, fish etc.
- He has a pet ginger cat named Tangerine.
- One of his hobbies are knitting, surprisingly.
I love the little extra bits of information you put into your characters!Reaction to death: Kohaku would be extremely shocked and surprised, thinking who could've done it and why before calming himself down and going around and helping out with any investigations. He would have a scowl on his face to show how disgusted he is because of the murderer.
This suits him!Reaction to being accused of killing: Kohaku would remain calm and cool-headed, before logically pointing out facts about how he could not be the murderer, he would get frustrated if they do not listen to him.
Death: He would get killed, the way is unconfirmed.
Overall, I love Kohaku's character! He's really well-thought out and I love his appearance and personality!
