"i don't believe you." tyler said.
"i never said you had to, i'm just informing you on you're boyfriend's aliveness." castiel said, her eyes piercing there way into tyler's mahogany tinted. he didn't risk getting lost in them, josh looked up to tyler's back in awe. wondering how he did it so yellow.
"well, he isn't, so stop telling me he is." tyler snapped. grief still had a hold on him.
"you're correct in reality, not in the afterlife." castiel said. tyler rolled his muddy eyes.
"of course, because god is one-hundred percent in my favor." tyler said, seth looked at castiel with a 'he's got a point' look. oranges with grapes in a way, if you think about it. on a thorny vine, and a rotting tree.
"we can play pretend if you want to tyler, but this is all real." she insisted. tyler scoffed once again.
"alright, show me. show me how this is any bit real." he said, castiel purposely pushed into him, he stumbled but caught himself before josh got to help, castiel leaned down, small bits of red in her green eyes. poking out at josh, he couldn't look away. but she made sure he didn't get lost.
"josh, get up." she commanded. josh got up and into an arm stance, she took him by the arm and threw him in front of tyler. the younger boy with mud hair that matched his eyes couldn't see his lover, the older could.
"kiss him. seth, you have to have some sort of magic in you." she said, turning to her partner, seth shrugged. she sighed and pulled him up, relatively close to her chest, he liked it. he liked it as much as sunny days with children playing peacefully with each other. as much as christmas morning. as much as cinnamon buns in front of a warm fire while it snowed harshly out the window, watching a funny movie or reading an incredible book. warmth, it ran through his veins. all because of the feelings he had for the devil in front of him.
"maybe this will give you some." she said, then befit seth knew it castiel's lips were on his, fulfilling his yearn for them on his. he passionately kissed back, giving her all he had, she did her best, converting what she had to him, equal force. the perfect spell. josh didn't want to look away from tyler, who looked right through him, ever so jealous of the couple, wanting it so bad.
"now do you job, angel." castiel said, seth nodded, looking up at her like a helpless puppy, looking into the back of josh's purple hair, castiel smiled, and nodded for confirmation.
"josh. he's yours, go." castiel said. josh stared into tyler, getting lost in his mahogany tinted mud eyes, someone died in those eyes, and it was tyler himself. only josh knew that.
tyler's eyes grew at the sight of the purple headed alien, josh cupped the back of the younger boy's neck quickly and pulling him. they both kissed each other, as if they had to do it our they'd be shot to death. sleeping eternally instead of what was in front of them. josh let go of tyler when he ran out of air, but kept their faces close together.
"they're real. i love you." he said, tyler shed a tear, seth screamed, and josh disappeared to tyler's sight. but really, josh caught tyler again, holding him in place. tyler was crying, seth was screaming in the glass shattered pain of his hands. giving tyler the ability to see love before his eyes.
"seth, hush. it's over." castiel said, it calmed him down. she always had, he never told her. she was the cloud that caught him after he fell from a higher one.
"s-sorry." tyler said, castiel looked up, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear as she looked at him. she studied the broken boy for a moment. the freckles on his nose starting to appear, they only did that when he cried. she always knew that. she knew more than she should, but that's how it had to be with the pair. she protected the mentally ill. she had to keep him alive until he was old enough for time to take him to her side of the sun. but of course, there was a greater chance of him going now than then.
"don't sweat it, you get it now, right? that's what matters." she said, tyler looked at her as if she were crazy, seth was too used to it to comprehend it, josh was too blind to the wrong since he was so purely snowflake to realize how serious the situation was.
"but you just hurt someone you love to let me see him, doesn't that hurt you." tyler said, not bothering to say it as if he were asking. he was to furious with poison ivy in his veins, crimson in his gaze. the mahogany coming through; black smoke wanting to swirl him, giving him the same color wings as castiel.
"i really can't feel anymore tyler." she said, seth laid back, head cocked into the marsh ground of the backyard of the white, ricked house. josh held tyler, never wanting to let go, no matter how angry he was. tyler felt the presence and acknowledged it.
"then why can't you, huh? what made you not feel anymore?" was it the sky! it's confusion towards you blanking it out, or maybe the marshes. the way the wind can't seem to get them to flow in one constant direction for the severity of sameness? maybe it was the sun, it burned it out of you. was it me, or was it because you picked the wrong battle, wasn't it?!" tyler snapped, yelling. his voice reflection with black smoke and crimson hues of chalk dust. the final words stung into the devil before him, stabbing themselves into her throat, making her eyes water.
"why do you think i have horns on my head tyler? sorry i didn't listen to myself. ever wonder why you're still alive?" she asked him, not calm anymore. loosing it in the ocean when she needed to fly. but she didn't. of course she didn't.
"josh. he's why i'm alive." he said. castiel shook her head, tyler nodded it and bobbled it up and down. trying to fight her, but it'd never work. as hard as he tried.
"partially. on your part, yes. but on my part, the real part, i'm why you're alive tyler. so maybe a thank you for the lack of emotion in the devil that's been following you around so you don't die like she did years ago might be a thing to take into consideration. if you wanted to know." she said, tyler's furrowed brows raised up to normal, josh could have less of a grip on his boyfriend's shoulders.
there was a pause of silence that flew through the four characters swiftly before tyler finished reading the devil in front of him. he leaned back, josh caught him, seth looked on, wingless. but knowing it'd be okay.
"thank you." tyler said, almost unable to hear it.
"what did you say?!" castiel yelled, tyler chocked on a gulp.
"thank you!" he yelled. castiel nodded, pleased with her demand of respect. something she wished she had in her past life as a human. josh automatically got it, he was an alien. seth never lived long enough to even see anyone have it, even if he couldn't recognize it.
they all stood there, josh pulled tyler to the swings, sitting him down to his assigned swing, josh sitting beside him. the two began to swing and swing. trying to fly. tyler wanted to fly to see josh, josh wanted to fly to see the moon. meet major tom, who he never understood that he had to become to see him. only to find that he would've been in a mirror; if anything.
"josh, why is the afterlife like this?" tyler asked, knowing he was there. ignoring the devil and angel beside him.
"because it's how we were raised. we're stuck now. you'll be here soon enough." josh said. tyler sighed, looking to his lover desperately.
"maybe today." he said, as id her heard josh. he didn't know he did, but he did.
it wasn't supposed to end this way.
tyler ran, getting off the swing, josh quickly followed. seth held castiel back by the tree he stood under. they ran to the ocean, running and running, tyler didn't care about he cold that ran through his torn canvas shoes as he ran into the water. josh flew above, following. tyler shooed him off. he could see him.
this wasn't meant to happen.
"josh, stay right there. i'll be with you!" tyler said, josh looked out to the younger boy, who was making a mistake. one castiel couldn't save. he went into the ocean and hopped in. the cold water filling his lungs, the currents ripping him apart. the three dead on land stood there. waiting. castiel was crying. seth held her hand, and josh sat right before the sea.
he wasn't afraid anymore.
