Part 31

“What’s wrong? It’s…midnight already.” Nathan said after checking his clock.

Time sure does fly by fast. I sighed and turned in his arms, moving away. He wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, burying his face into my neck.

“What’s wrong?” he whispered into my neck, his hot breath hitting my neck, causing me to shudder.

“When is this all going to end?” I asked, curling up, allowing him to spoon me from behind.

I heard him sigh. Obviously he knew that this was on my mind. I wondered if it was an alien thing. He tightened his grip on me, as I leaned further into his body.

“I don’t know, Alice. I really don’t. I’m sorry. I can tell you this though, that when it is over, you, the kids and I are going on vacation, far, far away from everything. I promise.” He hugged me.

I was satisfied with that answer for right now.

“Please, go to sleep.” He whispered, lulling me to sleep.

I nodded before allowing sleep to take me.

Nathan's POV

I woke up early in the morning for Alice. I knew she needed some encouragement. She had been dealing greatly with all of this. I expected her to break down and go crazy but she held strong.

I quietly crawled out of bed, so as not to wake her up. I sneaked into the living room, without waking anyone up. I immediately started cooking breakfast, knowing my parents were earlier risers along with Alice, especially if they heard something downstairs.

I planned to make eggs, turkey sausages, hash browns, muffins and I even chopped up some fruits. I was done in about an hour. I was glad that it was Sunday, the day we give all the staff off, because they would have protested to me working. This way I could work without distractions.

Within minutes of me being done, I heard Alice’s soft footfalls coming down the stairs.

“Nathan?” She called.

“In the kitchen, love.” I replied, washing my hands.

I saw her in my oversized t-shirt and shorts that I could barely see, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes and my breath caught. To me, she was absolutely beautiful like this. She didn’t need make up, pretty dresses and a barely there waistline to be beautiful. She was beautiful as she was.

I came to her, wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her to me.

“Mmm, good morning.” She says, wrapping her arms around me, burying her face into my chest.

“Good morning to you too.” I lightly press my lips against hers.

That wakes her up instantly, as she pulls me back into another kiss.

“I made breakfast.” I told her, pulling away.

“Yummy.” She smiles, at me.

“Want to go wake up everyone else?” I asked her.

She smiled evilly and nods. She grabs the water guns from under the sink and fills them up, handing me one as well. I quickly catch on.

First, we enter my parent’s room. They’re quietly sleeping, cuddling against each other.

A few squirts of our water guns and they shot up like a bullet.

“Good morning!” We yelled as we ran into Kate’s room.

Kate had an even better reaction.

“Alice! Nathan!” She yelled at us, as we left her room laughing.
