Chapter 7Shafaq's POV -
I hesitantly walked towards my parents' room and knocked on the door, and my mother opened it.
"Yes, beta! Come inside." My dad said. I moved towards him and sat beside o=him on the bed.
"Daddy! I want you to help me." I said.
"Sure beta, what do you want?" He asked me.
"Daddy, I want you to help me prove Rehaan's innocence!" He was shocked.
"Why Shafaq? He is a murderer!" He asked in a loud voice.
"Daddy, you don't know the truth! He murdered him to save me!" I shouted at him.
"To save you? What do you mean?" He was shocked.
"Yes Daddy! I was kidnapped. That man kidnapped me and Rehaan was the one who saved me! He had no other choice left to save me, except this!" I shouted.
Daddy gave no reaction, but I knew he was shocked by the truth. "Daddy, I am telling the truth! Is eradicating evil a crime?" I asked him.
"But murder is!"
"I know Daddy, but if he hadn't done anything, then something worse could have happened to me!"
My parents were quiet, but after much thinking he spoke, "But he still isn't innocent, he kidnapped you!"
"Yes, but he was forced to! But, Daddy my heart feels that he has good inside of him. I will show you soon, but please help me!" I pleaded.
I was begging. Mom looked at him and she begged him with her eyes. He turned towards me, "Okay, beta I will try to help you."
I had finally convinced him, and I felt more relaxed. I decided that I was going to free Rehaan at any cost. The next day, we went to the warehouse to find some evidence against Sarfaz.
As we opened the door, Fariah started coughing. There was so much grime and smell as we stepped inside. There were big cartons placed on top of one another, and many small ones please inside the shelves.
We decided to open and check every carton. We searched and searched, but we found nothing. Our whole day passed, but there were still many cartons left to check.
"Shafaq, we will have to come tomorrow." Daddy said.
"Yes, Shafaq. I'm hungry." Fariah said.
"Okay." I mumbled back at them. We went back home. After eating dinner, I went to my room. I walked towards the mirror hanging on the wall and talked to myself.
I will prove him innocent!
I will get him back!
I will reveal the good hidden inside of him!
I will prove his worth!
I will make him mine!
After saying this, I wiped my tears and went to bed. The next day after breakfast, we went to the warehouse again resumed our search.
We searched separately, I was trying to lower a carton that was placed on the upper shelf but instantly it fell down. I bent down to open it but I noticed an envelope on the floor. I must have fallen down with the carton, I opened it and there were papers inside of it.
"Daddy, I found something!" I shouted with joy. They rushed towards me and Daddy read the papers.
"Sarfaz was worse than a wild animal, it is clearly written in these contract papers that he sold girls off for money!"
"Daddy will this be enough proof to show that Rehaan murdered him to save me?"
"Maybe!"
We rushed over to the police station and presented the papers to the police, but they said it wasn't enough to prove his innocence. He had too many kidnapping complaints against him, so the matter will be decided by the court.
On the day of the bearing, we went to the courtroom. The judge announced after viewing the proof said that Rehaan could only be freed by paying a high fine.
Hearing this, I was happy, but not as much because I still wanted him to be free.
I looked at Daddy demandingly, but he shook his head at me. "Daddy, please!" I requested but he moved out of the courtroom. I moved my eyes towards Rehaan, he was standing at the dock. I was looking at him but Fariah dragged me out of the court room.
After reaching home, I tried to convince Daddy.
"Daddy, please pay the fine! Daddy, please for me!" I pleaded with him.
"Shafaq, have you gone mad!" Fariah said.
"Shafaq, I am telling you, this is not good!" Mom said to me.
"Okay, Shafaq. This is the last time I am doing anything for that man!" He said in a hard tone.
"Oh Daddy, thank you! Thank you so much!" I exclaimed with joy, hugging him. I was so happy, he was free!
I joyfully rushed to my room and looked at myself in the mirror.
"Shafaq Manzur, you've done it!" A tear fell out of my eyes, I quickly wiped it away, now these tears will never come back!
Now I won't let anyone bring these tears back, I went to sleep happy.
Ding dong! Ding dong!
"Who is that?" I asked while rubbing my eyes from sleep.
I looked at the time, and it was eleven at night.
Ding dong! Ding dong!
Why isn't anyone opening the door? I stood up and moved out my room. I walked downstairs to open the door, but Mom opened it before I could.
Daddy and Rehaan were standing in the doorway. I was shocked, no I was happy. No, it was unbelievable, I couldn't believe my eyes!
