The stars shown brightly in the sky on the peaceful night. In the distance frogs made noises (lmfho I don't know what the sound they make is called). It was so calm and tranquil as the shadows were illuminated in the moonlight, yet the air was buzzing with anxiety and anticipation.

They walked, hand in hand, by the lake.

"It's so beautiful here."

"Not as beautiful as you."

She laughed,"Could you have said anything cheasier?"

"Could you have?"He asked, spinning around to face her, their hands no longer intertwined. They simply stared into each other's eyes for a few meaningful seconds.

"That doesn't even make sense." She said monotone, careful not to break the eye contact.

"You don't make sense."

"You know what really doesn't make sense?"She asked, suddenly serious.

"What?" He smiled, not acknowledging her accusing tone.

"Our relationship."

He simply stared at her puzzled. She sighed.

"You really don't get it, do you? Are you an alien or something? I swear that you've never heard of the concept of fidelity. After all of this time, all that we've been through together. I thought we had something. Yet you just want to be "friends with benefits", whatever the heck that means. We don't have to get married, but I thought that you could help me, that we could get away from Paul. And my father."

He stood there, shocked and slightly angry. He opened his mouth as though he were about to day something, but then stopped.

"You know what, forget it. The world could end at this moment and we might as well enjoy what we have while it lasts."

She bent on one knee, first taking his hand and kissing the back of it. Then she reached into the pocket of her dress and pulled out what appeared to be a small box in the light of the moon.
She opened it up, pulling out a small badge with a diamond attatched to it. On it, she had printed, "When the time needs to come, we'll find eachother.", their old cult motto. It brought back bad memories, but it was still a lovely saying. It was what they rendered it as in their hearts that mattered.

At this moment the light of the future, the dark and struggle of the past, and the complete and utter vast yet confined love of the present could be represented in one thing.

To them, it was the mascot of life itself

Before she could utter the words that meant the end, he took the badge from her hand and pinned it on his shirt.

"May 15th, the anniversary of it all."

"You read my mind."

She stood, taking his hand in hers. If they were being forced to do something, at least the situation could be mutual.

After a moment of staring at the lake, she turned, facing him.

He leaned forward first, eager to close the gap between them.

Millions of thoughts rushed through both of their heads at the same time, but then it was all perfect contentness.

Their lips a centimeter away, they barely ghosted eachother, both of them perplexed as to what would even happen. Would the world blow up? In this minute the energy was buzzing so greatly it seemed as though there would be a great explosion.

And then they blew up.
